Dennise Miller

Obituary of Dennise Miller

Mrs. Dennise Miller, beloved wife of Kenneth Miller of Yorkton, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the age of 76.

Dennise was born on the family farm near Theodore, Saskatchewan, on August 6, 1949, to Steve and Mary Mocknowed. She was the youngest of seven children.

Dennise married Ken on September 24, 1966 and together they built a life in Yorkton. In 1972, they purchased the family home where they raised their family and shared many cherished memories together.

With three growing boys in the house, keeping the “goodie freezer” full was practically a full-time job. During the winter months, the boys often came home from school to fresh bread and buns waiting on the kitchen table. Dennise loved cooking and baking for her family, and no one ever left her home hungry. The freezer was always stocked with homemade perogies, cabbage rolls, freshly caught pickerel, and vegetables from the garden.

Dennise loved fishing with her family, first alongside Baba and Gedo, and later with close friends Mike and Marion. Whenever she hooked a big one, everyone knew it by her loud call for the “fricken net.”

She had a gift for turning ordinary tasks into family adventures. Whether picking mushrooms, tending the gardens, or gathering Saskatoon berries while unknowingly standing in an ant hill, she made even the simplest outings memorable

Dennise enjoyed playing canasta, rummy, Uno, and cribbage with family and friends, evenings often ending with coffee and homemade squares. She also worked as a cook at the curling club — where many came as much for her pie as for the curling — and later worked in the bakery at Superstore.

As her children grew older, Dennise traded much of her vegetable garden for flower beds and eagerly awaited the return of the hummingbirds each spring. She especially cherished quiet mornings with a coffee in hand and her favourite mug featuring photos of her grandchildren.

Dennise was predeceased by her parents, Steve and Mary; her daughter, Renee; and her siblings Willie, Vicky, Orest, Gordon, and Hazel.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Ken; her sons Kirk, Trent, and Troy and their families, and her brother Gus.

The family would like to thank the staff at the cancer clinic, especially her driver, Monique, for their kindness and care in recent years.

A service will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Time and location to be announced.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care.
