Valerie Gwen Watrych (nee Schuster) was born on Sept 16,1954. She was the second child of Frank and Irma Schuster.
Valerie received her education at Aston school in the RM of 213.She then transferred to Melville school and then completed her high school in Moosejaw, Sask.
Val married the love of her life Dennis Watrych on Aug 19th, 1972.Their marriage was blessed with three children Laura, Conrad and Rene. In time they would welcome seven grandchildren Connor, Tristan, Owen and Jordanna Watrych (Conrad’s children) Hailey (Anthony) Watrych, Paige and Chloe Hala (Rene’s Children). Val was a dedicate wife, mother and grandmother, her family was everything to her.
When Val's children were all of school age she began work as a care giver at Esterhazy care home. She continued her work for many years at the care home until health issues forced her to take time off in 2011.
After having surgery and recovery she decided to re-educate herself and became an office assistant for Sunrise Health Region in the public health department. Then retired in 2015.
Val, as well as being a busy mom and health care worker was also very active on the farm. Her and Dennis worked side by side on their mixed farm. They had crop land as well as cattle, hogs and thousands of chickens over the years. The chickens would be butchered in the fall time and sold. She also milked cows, made butter and sold cream off the farm. She always had a huge garden that fed her family as well as many others around the neighbourhood.
Val had a huge heart and loved to visit with family and friends alike. The coffee pot was always on or perhaps something stronger if you came to visit toward evening. When you visited Val’s home, she had to feed you whether you were hungry or not. There was no leaving her home hungry. She also loved to bake and over the years she made many baking trays and pies to gift to friends and family.
Val had many special gifts, she played piano, did all kinds of crafts like crocheting, knitting and sewing and as I said she loved to cook and bake. There were many family favorites such as her perogies and cabbage rolls. Val did all these things with a little bit of love tucked in. But most of all Val was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunty and friend and she loved us all dearly as we loved her.
Val leaves to morn her passing and cherish her life her loving husband Dennis their children Conrad and Laura and seven grandchildren that were the light of her world.
She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Irma Schuster her mother and father in-laws George and Verna Watrych and daughter Rene.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home and Cremation Care.
