Ilse (Elsie) Erika Bomboir passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on May 8, 2026, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, at the age of 83.

Elsie was born on June 14, 1942, in Bruchnowo, Germany, to Olga and Erwin Hartmann. Her father, Erwin, passed away when she was only two and a half years old. She attended school in Quarendorf until 1952, when she immigrated to Canada with her mother, Olga; stepfather, Karl Fischer; stepbrother, Gerhard; and brother, Karl Heinz. The family settled in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan. In 1957, Elsie became a big sister to Heidi, who was born after the family arrived in Canada.

In 1959, Elsie married Roger Bomboir, and together they built a wonderful life. They were blessed with three daughters: Cynthia, Linda, and Tamara. In 1981, they welcomed a fourth daughter, Ericka, through adoption.

Following Tamara’s birth in 1975, she was diagnosed with significant physical and cognitive disabilities. Elsie devoted herself wholeheartedly to Tamara’s care until her passing in 1989.

Through this experience, Elsie discovered her true calling. Inspired by her deep love for Tamara and her unwavering commitment to helping others, she dedicated the remainder of her life and career to fostering children, with a special focus on those with disabilities. Her compassion, generosity, and nurturing spirit touched countless lives and made a lasting difference for many children and families over the years.

Elsie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roger Bomboir; daughter, Tamara Bomboir; grandson, Riley Grainger; mother, Olga Fischer; stepfather, Karl Fischer; sister, Heidi Mychajliv; brothers, Karl Heinz Fischer, Willi Herbert Hartmann, and Hans Otto Hartmann; and father, Erwin Hartmann.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughters: Cynthia Grainger (Brian), Linda Duperreault (Danny), and Ericka Krieger (Jason).

She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Ashley Taylor (Greg), Brianne Niles (David), Jameen Bomboir (Jessie), Danielle Duperreault, Trey Duperreault, Kaitlyn Krieger (Colby), Braden Krieger, and Hannah Krieger; her 10 great-grandchildren; her stepbrother, Gerhard Fischer (Dora); as well as her extended family and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Elsie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Forever loved, forever remembered.
