Madix Reid Vitkauskas

October 27, 2005 – May 18, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic passing of our son, Madix Reid Vitkauskas, on May 18, 2026, at home in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Born October 27, 2005, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Madix lived life full speed ahead. He was adventurous, fearless, energetic, and always chasing the next experience. His friends described him as someone who lived for adrenaline and the love of life. Whether through sports, travel, or time spent with the people he loved, Madix embraced life with intensity and passion.

He excelled in sports from a young age and recently returned to the ice to enjoy playing hockey again with his brother-in-law Kris. He loved to stay busy, loved to laugh, and was known for his mischievous sense of humour and the pranks he played — mostly on his mom.

One of Madix’s greatest passions was riding his motorcycle. He loved the freedom of the open road, the adrenaline, and the sense of adventure that came with it. Riding wasn’t just a hobby to him — it was where he felt most alive. Whether heading out for a ride on his own or sharing that passion with others, it brought him genuine happiness and reflected the fearless spirit that defined so much of who he was.

Madix also had an incredibly tender heart. He deeply loved animals, especially Jack and his cats Teddy and Puff. He cherished his family, adored his niece Mylla, and looked up to his big sister Hailey. He shared a special bond with his grandparents, creating countless memories filled with laughter, love, and the kind of comfort only grandparents can give. Some of the most treasured memories with him were made traveling together to Cuba, The Maritimes, Mexico, Florida, California, Hawaii, and Europe - where he had the opportunity to play the game he loved while seeing more of the world.

He found joy in life’s simple things too — ice cream, donuts, bakery runs with his mom, fishing, playing pool with his dad, and making memories with the people he loved most.

Above all else, Madix was deeply loved. His presence filled every room, and his loss leaves an unimaginable emptiness in the hearts of all who knew him.

Madix is survived by his loving mother, Lisa Vitkauskas; his father and stepmother, Joe and Lorrie Vitkauskas; his sister and brother-in-law, Hailey and Kris Pidperyhora; stepbrother Drue (Kadi) Allison; grandparents Gerald and Pat Yagelniski and Nancy Brazeau; his beloved niece, Mylla; aunts and uncles Trish and Ben Shewchuk, Dori and Ken Genoway, Jerrie and Keith Kuzminski, and Jennifer (Daniel Sr.) Pritchard; cousins Lowen (Kayla), Karlie (Jorden), Korwin (Mykayla), Sam, Emmett, Maisie, Reese, Walker, Daniel, Jaleesa, and Danessa; as well as numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, friends, and all those who loved him dearly.

He was predeceased by his grandfather Joe Vitkauskas, great baba Cassie Yaganiski, great-grandfather Jack Smith, great-grandmothers Jean Stonehouse and Lillian Brazeau, stepbrother Ryin Allison, and cousin Noah Genoway.

The family asks that Madix be remembered not for how he left this world, but for how he lived in it — boldly, passionately, and with a heart capable of deep love.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this heartbreaking time.

“Go in peace, my precious boy.

 We are always with you.

 You are forever loved.”
