It is with heavy hearts the we announce the peaceful passing of George Sanderson — husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, at the age of 92, at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Anchored throughout his life by his faith, George leaves a legacy of service and devotion to his family.

George is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his daughters, Wendy Muri, Shelley (Darrell) Skibinsky and their families Jordon Skibinisky, Brett Skibinsky, Kathryn (Skyler) Adamarczuk, Owen (Jenny Hope) Muri and great grandchildren Riley and Levi Adamarczuk.

Born February 17, 1934 George was born and raised on the family farm west of Springside to Peter and Tilley (Laube) Sanderson. He was a man of strength — both in character and conviction. He gave generously of his time, his skills and was always willing to help.

On May 16, 1959, George married Joan Merriman. George and Joan did everything together enjoying cards, travelling, fishing and loved company and visiting. George was a hard worker and often had more than one job on the go. He farmed, was a telephone repair man for Springside telephones, worked as an administrator at the Theodore Hospital and sold insurance.

George’s faith was the bedrock of his life and he served as council member, Sunday School teacher and choir member for various Lutheran churches.

At George’s request, the funeral will be a private family service and burial.

The family thanks the staff at St. Paul Lutheran Home for making it a home and their excellent care.
