Obituary of Gail Sedlovitch
Gail Nedene Sedlovitch, formerly of Fenwood, SK, passed away on July 13, 2026, at the age of 80. She was born July 2, 1946, beloved daughter of Mechalina “Lena” Sedlovitch.
Gail spent most of her life living in the village of Fenwood close to family. She received her education at Fenwood and Yola Schools, completing high school courses through correspondence. Gail filled her days assisting her mother at their cafe, “Joe’s Lunch”, and later in helping to care for her grandmother Efrosine and Uncle Mike Sedlovitch, her mother, and their homes and yards. She served as the custodian of Fenwood School before its closure, and for a time owned and operated a small second hand shop in the village.
Gail enjoyed attending church, going to bingo, visiting family and friends, stitching needlepoint pictures, and listening to music. She was a big fan of Elvis and Dean Martin, writing to and receiving autographed photos from both! Gail was a cat lover, and found joy and companionship with her pets. She was also an avid reader, having a large collection of romance novels and other books in her collections. She was known to read an entire book in one afternoon, often while shelling peas at the same time!
Gail was predeceased by her mother in March, 2014. She lived independently in Fenwood until the spring of 2022, and spent the latter portion of her life cared for by Sunrise Health Region staff in care homes in Esterhazy and Ituna.
Gail is survived by numerous cousins and their families. She was known to always remember birthdays and other special occasions, and loved to celebrate with family and friends. In turn, she will be always remembered by them, and the communities and care homes of which she was a part.
The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 24th at 11:00am from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home, Melville.
The Interment will follow in the St. Paraskevia Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Birmingham.
Memorial donations in memory of Gail Sedlovitch may be made to the St. Paraskevia Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery Fund as gifts of remembrance.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey's Funeral and Cremation Care, Melville.
