Obituary of Larry Gawel
It is with great sadness the passing on July 21st, 2026 of Larry Gawel of Melville, Saskatchewan at the age of 72 years, after a brief illness.
Larry was born on September 3rd 1953 to Bernadette and Felix Gawel. Larry was raised in Benfait, Saskatchewan and was the oldest of 4 children; he had 3 younger sisters, Faye, Theresa and Deloris.
Through out his childhood, he established a strong work ethic that lasted through out his life. After receiving his education Larry worked for 36 ½ years on the C.N.R. at Benfait, Carlyle and Melville. After his retirement Larry worked for Co-op Gas Bar for 12 years.
On May 21st, 1977 Larry married the love of his life Donna Hauglum at Midale, Saskatchewan. Together they were blessed with three children, Beth, Chantelle and Kelly. They were the pride and joy of his life.
Larry cherish his memory, loving his life of 49 years with Donna; daughter, Chantelle (Les); daughter, Beth; son, Kelly; his grandchildren, Hayden (girl friend, Katilyn); Dakota (Ariana) great grandson, Grady; Taylor, Logan and Ralyn.
Predeceased by his parents, Felix and Bernadette; nephew, Ryan Gemby; father-in-law, Melvin Hauglum.
Larry liked to be sociable, he loved people. Larry was a friend to the people he met.
A Celebration of Larry's Life will take place on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home in Melville.
