Obituary of Sophie Tymiak

Sophie was born on September 13, 1931, on a farm south of Jasmin. She was the only child of John and Justina Wingerak (Kowalyshyn). Her mother passed away when Sophie was just 13 years old. She attended school in Jasmin and spent summers with relatives while her father was away working.

Sophie married Steve Tymiak in November 1947, and together they made their home in the town of Jasmin. In 1959, they built a new home and were blessed with two sons, Jim and Larry. Sophie was a home maker at heart and enjoyed the simple life looking after the house and always a large yard and garden. As time went on, she started to downsize her garden and spent more of her time with flower arrangements in her garden, she enjoyed bright coloured flowers, and it was very eye catching to everyone who passed by.

Sophie enjoyed attending church in Jasmin and then later in Ituna, where she also helped with many parish fundraising events in the parish, especially getting together with members of the parish and working at the many perogy bees.

Due do to declining health she became resident of the Ituna Pioneer Lodge in February 2024 and enjoyed crocheting and doing diamond dots for a pastime.

Predeceased by her parents and husband Steve and son Jim.

She will be lovingly missed by her son Larry (Sylvia) and their boys Micheal and Steven.

Daughter in-law Marlene Tymiak and her daughters Tarilynn Tymiak and Corilynn (Curtis) Nakonechny and two great grand children Tyson and Chloe Nakonechny.
