Obituary of Gerald Kozmeniuk

KOZMENIUK - It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Gerald Keith Kozmeniuk, of Yorkton and the Danbury district, beloved husband of Melody Kozmeniuk at Yorkton Regional Hospital on April 19, 2024 at the age of 69 years old.

Gerald was born on August 30, 1954. As a young child Gerald was adventurous, always, the first to climb over the fence leaving his twin sister behind, and that adventurous spirit continued through his life.

He attended Brush Valley School until the end of grade 6, then attended Sturgis Composite High School. After graduation, Gerald took on some business ventures and began farming. He met and married the love of his life, Melody, and with Dustan they became a family of 3. In 1993 Claytan was born and their family was complete.

After retiring he enjoyed having time to spend at his cabin with his family. For Gerald, those were the most special and precious times.

He loved to be out on the boat with his sons and families, reaping the rewards of their catch in a fine gourmet meal.

He was predeceased by his parents William and Nellie Kozmeniuk, brother Barry and sister Shirley Crowder.

Gerald will be sadly missed by his wife Melody of 33 years, sons Claytan (Stephanie), their daughter Jilliann, and nephew Tylor; Dustan (Robin) and their daughters Bailey and Teagan; his twin sister, Geraldine and brother-in-law Bob (Little); nieces Michelle (Olivier) their children Bastien and Alex, Melissa (Ian) and their children Charles and Albert; parents in law Orval and Gail Bjornson; brother-in-law Dean (Bjornson) and by everyone that knew and loved him.

In honoring Gerald’s wishes, a private family service was held honouring his life on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey, Certified Celebrant officiating. Bernie Kozmeniuk shared with a prayer and Claytan Kozmeniuk conveyed the tribute. The scripture reading was given by Jillian Dubiel.  Guitarist, Bob Little played the selection ‘Sunshine on My Shoulders’. The interment followed in the Prairieview Columbarium with Dustan Kozmeniuk and Melody Kozmeniuk serving as the urn bearers. Memorials donations in memory of Gerald may be made to the Cancer Research Society as gifts of remembrance.  Condolences to the family can be shared at baileysfuneralhome.com

Arrangements are entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home and Cremation Care.
