November 27, 2020
Visitations, Memorial Services, Celebrations of Life, Gatherings and Funeral Services are limited to a maximum of 30 people in attendance.  Food or beverages cannot be served at these functions.

All places of worship must also limit gatherings to 30 people for all events, including funerals.
Wearing masks is mandatory.

Live-streaming is available at no charge upon request.

November 15, 2020
Funeral Homes are included in the Places of Worship Guidelines for Public Health in Saskatchewan. Funerals, Memorial Services and Celebrations of Life are still possible and 30% of the building capacity is allowed to attend.

Wearing a mask is now mandatory in all public spaces in Yorkton and Melville, which includes our funeral homes, the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre and churches. We also encourage physical distancing when it is possible.
We offer complimentary live-streaming of the service for relatives and friends who choose to attend virtually.

Be safe, and please do not hesitate to contact us with questions regarding our COVID-19 protocols.

June 8, 2020
The Saskatchewan Government released guidelines on June 1, 2020 which included Funeral Homes under the "Places of Worship" category. Therefore, attendance at an indoor funeral has increased to 30 people. We strongly encourage family members to let the 30 attendees know who they are and that may attend the funeral. For all relatives and friends a live-stream of the service will be available when the arranging family requests it.

Outdoor interment services and/or graveside funerals also allow a maximum of 30 people.
Physical distancing practices will be observed. We strongly encourage the use of face masks -- especially for aging people and those with compromised immune systems.

May 2, 2020
While the Saskatchewan Government is easing into five phases to reopen Saskatchewan, we continue to practice physical distancing and are restricted to ten people or less per room during gatherings. We continue to be available every day/24 hours a day to respond to death care needs.

Planning a funeral:
Appointments are limited to four people, but other family members can be on the phone or join the appointment remotely.
Families may participate by screen-sharing applications, or arrangements may be handled completely over the phone, or by email.
If preferred, the appointment can be held remotely for all family members.

Live-Streaming or Recording a Funeral:
We will record the service for you at no charge.
We can also invite certain people to attend the service virtually using the Zoom application, or Live-stream using Facebook so anyone may take part in the service.

Attending a Visitation or Funeral/Memorial Service/Gathering:
We will record your name and telephone number upon arrival to keep track of everyone who enters the Funeral Home. Only ten people or less are allowed in one room at the Funeral Home. We continue to practice social and physical distancing. Physical distancing means maintaining a healthy and safe space between yourself and another person. There must be at least two metres or six feet between you. We also do not engage in the traditional ways of comforting someone who is grieving, like handshaking or hugging. We are not able to serve refreshments or have a meal following the gathering for more informal fellowship and reflection.

Postponing a Gathering:
We encourage every family to have something that helps acknowledge a death has occurred and life has changed soon after the loss. Larger and more public gatherings may be postponed until restrictions are lifted.

  • Some families will opt to have a small, private service for immediate family members only.
  • A larger gathering that includes extended family, friends and loved ones from abroad or who need to travel to attend can be scheduled for a later date or can virtually attend the service online.

March 30, 2020
We hope everyone is keeping safe and staying well. An update to let you know we are still here for you. When someone loved dies, you may contact us any time. The Government of Saskatchewan is allowing 10 people or less for gatherings. We are able to Live Stream via Facebook or Zoom to include anyone else. You may also want to hold a public gathering at a later date. Please take care during this challenging time.

March 20, 2020
Bailey's Funeral Home is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for our valued staff and helping the community we serve to do the same. We have been closely monitoring the ongoing COVID-19 Response according to the guidelines and recommendations from Public Health Saskatchewan.

  • We want you to know that we are open and available to help you and that we still respond to calls when a death occurs.
  • We can make arrangements by phone if that makes you more comfortable.
  • We offer Facebook live streaming services, if travel or other concerns prevent anyone from being with their family at this difficult time.

We are keenly aware that anything that delays a funeral delays the natural mourning and healing process. Unfortunately, you cannot push “pause” on grief. With this understanding we encourage families to carry out the wishes of their loved one -- whether a casket burial or cremation. However, the gathering may have to be private, a graveside or a visitation only. We will provide a public gathering when the family requests (no additional cost) when it is safe to do so and we are free to gather in groups of 25 people or more.

If you are in attendance at a gathering please avoid shaking hands or physical contact with the members of the family, guests or our funeral home staff. Direct eye contact, loving words, and a warm smile can be as meaningful to the families as a traditional handshake or hug, especially during these difficult times.

We appreciate the trust that you place in us. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and take actions necessary to help keep our staff and our community safe while providing the services you need during this difficult time.
