Obituary of Jacob "Jack" Zimmer

ZIMMER - Jack was born on November 6, 1934 to Bernard and Theresa (Parislau) Zimmer of Grayson, SK. He lived his life on the family homestead south west of Grayson. After his dad passed away, Jack started farming with his brothers at the age of 14. He went to Columbia school and later in life took various farming courses in Melville. Jack married Elizabeth (Mayer) on July 9, 1956 in Grayson. They raised their family and lived in the community for 83 years. His last year was spent in Regina at the Victoria Park Personal Care Community close to his immediate family. Jack and Elizabeth were welcomed into Victoria Park with open arms and were active at the center. Jack with his wife by his side were a vital part of the Grayson community. He was on numerous boards and committees including Fire Chief of the local volunteer Fire Department, a Knight and member of the Grayson Men's club. He was a key member Grayson's Polka Days and various church organizations. They were also St. Mary's parish Chair Couple for 8 years. He donated his time helping repair the local rinks and Grayson hall. He is remembered as a farmer, carpenter, plumber, mechanic and welder. He truly was named properly, Jack of all trades. He willingly helped anyone in need. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. His leisure time was spent hunting and fishing for his family. He developed a passion for golfing later on in life. Most Sunday afternoons were spent at the lake with family. Winter was all about snowmobiling and ice fishing. He always had his dancing shoes ready to go and loved to sashay across the floor with anyone willing. The good times followed Jack everywhere he went. He will be dearly missed by all.
