Obituary of Albert Alfred Leipert

In Loving Memory of Albert Leipert

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Albert Leipert announces his passing.  Albert passed away peacefully at St Paul Lutheran home in Melville.  He was ninety seven.

 

Albert was born in the village of Stornaway Saskatchewan on August 17, 1926.  He spent his first year of school in Stornaway. When he was seven years old he moved to the family farm north of Saltcoats.  Albert spent the rest of his school years at Tupper school. In 1953 he met Shirley Murphy at a dance.  Two years later they were married on July 15, 1955. Besides farming with his brother Edward, Albert enjoyed fishing and hunting. Albert and Shirley were blessed with two children. A daughter Terry and a son Dale. In 1974, Albert and Edward sold the family farm.  Albert and Shirley moved the family to Yorkton.  Albert worked for Beaver lumber and then spent 9 years working at Morris Rod Weeder. Albert and Shirley spent many summers camping and travelling. Albert loved making wine. When anyone came for a visit they always were sure to get a glass of his homemade wine.  In 2009 Albert and Shirley sold there house and moved into Independent Manor. It was there that they made new friends.  Albert enjoyed coffee time and visiting with the other men in the building, discussing anything from the good old days to politics to the weather.  Albert was a great story teller and loved to talk.  He also had a great mind for remembering events and dates. This stayed with him right until the end of his life.  In 2020 Albert’s health began to decline and he moved to St Paul Lutheran Home in Melville.  Four months later Shirley joined him. They were very happy to be together again where they remained until their passing.

 

Albert was predeceased by his wife Shirley in September of 2022.  His parents Gustave and Emma Leipert.  Brothers William, Edward, Julius, Fred, and Benny.  Sisters Tena, Hilda, Elsie, Olga, Clara, Alma and Rita. Daughter in law Myra Leipert.

 

He is survived by his daughter Terry (Wes) Lonoway and their children Amy (Jamie) Smith and children Xara and Gage:  Evan (Twyla) Lonoway and children Lindsay and Boston.  Son Dale and his daughter Shannon (Steven) Erickson and children Bennett, Nolan, Greta, and Lars. Sister in law Lois Spokowski. Also numerous nieces and nephews.

 

In Loving Memory of Shirley Leipert

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Shirley Leipert announces her passing. Shirley passed away at St Paul Lutheran home in Melville with her husband at her side. She was eighty seven.

Shirley was born on the family farm north of Saltcoats on July 24 ,1935. She attended the Eden school. In 1953 she was introduced to Albert Leipert a friend of her brother Leonard. Two years later on July15, 1955 they were married at the Saltcoats United church. Albert and Shirley lived on the Leipert family farm until 1974. Shirley spent her time gardening and raising chickens. Once a week she would deliver eggs to her customers in Yorkton. She loved scrapbooking, always collecting news paper clippings to put in her scrapbooks. Albert and Shirley were blessed with two children. A daughter Terry and a son Dale. In 1974 they sold the farm and moved to Yorkton. It was a different life for the family but a happy one. Shirley worked for several years at Sully’s cage layers and later on did babysitting in her own home. Shirley and Albert enjoyed travelling and made Several trips with their camper out to B.C. to visit family. They also enjoyed fishing trips to northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba. In 2009 they sold their house and moved to Independent Manor. It was there where they made many new friends and enjoyed coffee parties and bingo. In 2020, Shirley’s health declined and she moved to St Paul Lutheran home in Melville where Albert was already a resident. She lived there until her passing on September 5 2022.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Gertrude Murphy, brother Leonard Murphy, and daughter in law Myra Leipert.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years Albert. Daughter Terry (Wes) Lonoway and their children; Amy (Jamie) Smith and children Xara and Gage and Evan (Twyla) Lonoway and children Lindsay and Boston; Son Dale and his daughter Shannon (Steven) Erickson and children Bennett, Nolan, Greta and Lars. Sister Lois Spokowski. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
