Obituary of John Furber

FURBER - John Ernest Furber was born on January 15, 1945 at Esterhazy, Saskatchewan; a son of Constance (nee Nelson) and Ted Furber. John was raised in Dubuc and received his education there. As a young man John began working for farmers in the Dubuc and Kamsack areas. He then ventured to Regina where he worked for Sears Canada in the warehouse for about five years. He eventually came to the Hubbard district where he began working for his sister Doreen and brother-in-law Willy Filko. He then moved into Ituna, where he had since resided. John enjoyed the visits of his family, he enjoyed socializing over a game of cards. Coffee was John's favorite beverage. John was able to maintain his independence until recently, but as his health deteriorated he required more constant care. He passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville. He was 69 years of age. He was predeceased by his parents, Ted and Constance; brothers Sydney, Bert & Fred; sister Judy Nelson,; and good friend Jack Hynds. He leaves to mourn his passing his son Barry (Molina) Isaac; grandson Brisque; sisters: Florence Gracey of Medicine Hat; Doreen (Willy) Filko of Ituna; and Joan Hynds of Ituna; brothers: George Furber of Ft. St. John BC; James (Donna) Furber of Ituna; numerous nieces, nephews, and his many other relatives and friends. A graveside memorial service was held on Friday, May 30, 2014 from the Dubuc Cemetery with Rev. Brian Mee of the United Church of Canada officiating. The cremation and funeral care was entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
