MYSKO - Mrs. Rose Mysko (nee Martenuk) passed away peacefully with family by her side on October 24, 2013 at the Yorkton District Nursing Home. Rose was born near Wroxton, Saskatchewan on April 17, 1931. Rose was raised on the family farm and grew up sharing her parents' strong work ethic and family values. She married William (Bill) Mysko in 1948 and together they raised six children: Lorne, Cynthia, Sharen, Geraldine, Laurie and Jeff, all the pride and joy of Rose's life. After leaving the farm in 1966, Rose, Bill and the family settled in Yorkton. Rose's passion was raising her children with great love and care while they maintained the farm near Wroxton. She later worked for SaskTel for a number of years. When grandchildren arrived they were a precious addition to her family. She kept a bountiful garden, was noted for her canning and sewing abilities and Ukrainian cooking, especially her famous perogies. Rose loved music, singing with Bill and attending dances. She enjoyed socializing with friends and neighbors on coffee row. She also enjoyed playing cards, being a keen Kaiser player, and attending garage and auction sales. Throughout her life, Rose demonstrated great faith in God and this was lived by example every day. She was an active member of the church choir and U.C.W.L. Prayer was a source of strength and guidance for Rose. Rose was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Martenuk, her husband, Bill in 2000, and her daughter, Cynthia in 2008. She will be lovingly remembered by her five children, thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Son Lorne (Bernadette), their children Paul (Carla and great-grandchildren Andrew & Alison), Jared (great-grandson William), and Barbara (Brent); daughter Sharen Zeman and her children Philip and Laura; daughter Geraldine (Mitch) Hippsley and their daughters Brittany (Dave) Burchill, Carly, Macy and Alexa; daughter Laurie (Marty) Meloche and their sons Riley and Regan; son Jeff and his daughters Reis and Tori; as well as Rose's sister, Violet Rusnak, from Powell River, B.C. and numerous other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at North 1 at the Yorkton District Nursing Home as well as Dr. Groenewald and the nurses at the Yorkton Hospital for the care provided to our mom during her stays this past year. She also very much appreciated the visits and care frequently provided by close friends and family.
