Obituary of William Wasyl Tropak

TROPAK - The family of William Tropak of Luther Court Society of Victoria, BC and formerly of Melville is sad to announce his passing on October 10, 2013 at the age of 88 years. His first wife, Mary in 1980, his grandson Joshua in 1987 and his second wife, Irene in 2006, predeceased William. He leaves to mourn his daughter Debbie (Tropak) Young (Dan Banks), his son Mike (Denise) Polishak and his grandchildren Matthew and Kelsey Polishak and Cassidy and Zachary Young. William was born in Czernaiva, Galicia, Ukraine on August 28, 1925 and immigrated to Canada after the Second World War. Prior to coming to Canada he had worked in the Messerschmitt plane factories in Germany and the coalmines of Belgium. Once in Canada he found employment with a foundry just outside of Oshawa Ontario. He met Mary Polishak in Brantford Ontario. He also was employed for the Department of Highways for a while. It was after they married that he settled into a job working for the City of Melville. It was in Melville where he spent the next 50 years. William was a family man, an avid gardener and a very talented basket weaver. He loved to sing and sang in St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church Choir. For many years he was a volunteer fire-fighter for the City of Melville. He spent the last seven years living in Victoria, British Columbia where he made many new friends. He will be remembered for his gentle nature, his glorious flower and vegetable gardens and his ability to be grateful for the little things in life. All those who knew him will sadly miss him. Funeral Service were held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home in Melville with Rev. Father Raymond Lukie C.Ss.R officiating. The responses were sung by Cantor Ed Pindus. Special music selections "He Is Here, Hallelujah" and "In The Upper Room"were sung by Sylvia and Arthur Stadel. Denise Polishak gave the eulogy and the crossbearer was Cassidy Young. The Interment followed in the St. Henry's Parish Cemetery with Michael Polishak, Zach Young, Dan Banks, Kelvin Borys, Arthur Stadel and Dennis Burak as the casketbearers.
