SMITH - Edward Morley Smith was born on July 12, 1945 at Estevan, Saskatchewan; a son of Verna Irene (nee Hart) and Stanley Albert Smith. Ed was raised in Estevan and received his schooling there. As a young man he began his working career at Acklands Ltd. On July 18, 1970 he was united in marriage to Carol Sinkewicz. The couple resided in Estevan for a couple of years before transferring to Yorkton in 1972. In 1976 Ed began employment with the Morris Rod Weeder Company as their purchasing manager, a position he held for ten years. Ed always dreamed of owning his own business, and that became a reality on August 1, 1986, when he and Carol established Smith Steel Inc. Ed passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 8th, 2013 at his home in Yorkton. He was 68 years of age. Predeceased by his parents, a brother Lynn, and by a sister Linda; Ed leaves to cherish his memory his wife Carol; son Michael (Dawn) of Yorkton and their children Abigail, Sophie & Reed; daughter Michelle (Jeff) Myrowich of Yorkton and their children Drake & Rebecca; and son Mark (Joelle) of Yorkton and their children Hudson & Emily. Also a brother John (Carol) Smith of Regina; and his sister-in-law, Pat Smith, also of Regina; and their families. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, September 12th 2013 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Fr. Francis Hengen Celebrant. The Lectors were John Smith & Warren Michelson, the Gift-bearers were Michael, Michelle & Mark, and the Crossbearer was Tim Walchuk. Pianist, Pam Yaremko led members of the Parish Choir in the singing of the hymns 'Be Not Afraid', Psalm 138, 'Christ Be Our Light', 'I Am the Bread of Life', 'Song of the Angels', and 'Though the Mountains May Fall'. The interment took place in the Garden of Memories at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with grandson Drake Myrowich serving as the urnbearer. Condolences can be left at baileysfuneralhome.com. Memorials were to one's charity of choice, The cremation & funeral care was entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
