Obituary of Pamela Leona Jayne Steinmacher Deforest

The family of Pamela Steinmacher Deforest of the Yorkton District, beloved wife of Calvin Deforest sadly announce her passing on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. She was 51 years of age. Pam Pamela Leona Jayne Steinmacher Deforest, daughter of Edwin and Cecile (Popowich) Steinmacher, was born October 8th, 1970 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. The youngest of four girls, she was raised on the Ituna -Bon Accord PFRA community pasture, which her father managed. After leaving home, Pam lived in Yorkton, Saskatoon, and Fort McMurray, each time with, or near, one of her sisters. Her parents retired from the PFRA in 1999, and Pam had returned to the Yorkton area in time to aid, and later provide care for them throughout their golden years. Professionally, Pam spent a total of 25 years as a Medical Office Assistant, and in this vocation she truly shone. In any of 'her' offices, compassion, cheerfulness, hope and integrity were not words on the wall, but found to be emanating from this remarkable woman. She never developed the ability to hang her heart by the door. She laughed and cried with, and for, a great many in her community. Other interests and occupations over the years were quite varied, from victim services worker to apiarist, and heavy equipment operator to market gardener. Pam was a great lover of animals, and any little souls that made their way into her care received a lifetime of devotion. Aunty Pam held much pride and affection for her nieces and nephews, and it was with great joy that she received news of the birth of a second grand-nephew just short weeks ago, noting him as her family's corresponding blessing to her own place in the circle of life. Away from work, Pam preferred a quiet, private life alone with her husband, Cal. They loved each other's company, worked well together, talked for hours, and were always holding hands. Pam looked so forward to the not-too-distant day when they would move close to Emma and Chris, where she could, “...live small, and just be Gramma Pam.” Our Pam passed from this life, with her husband and in her home, on February 8th 2022 She was predeceased by her parents, Ed & Cecile Steinmacher, and mother-in-law Eva Deforest. Pam is survived by her husband, Calvin Deforest, step-daughter Emma (Christopher) Klepel, and grandchildren Elizabeth, Daniel, and Soontoarrive; Her sister Christine (Dennis) Bratkowski, and nieces Larissa and Amber; Her sister Lorna (Rod) Miskolczi, niece Stacy, nephew Andrew(Jasmine), and grandnephew Mikael; Her sister Fay (Jim) Morrissey, niece Martina (Stewart) Chambers, and grandnephew Seth; Her father-in-law Arnold Deforest, sister-in-law Jacqueline (Brent) Johnson, and niece Cassandra,as well as many other friends and relatives. Pam's family will hold a private celebration of her life this coming Easter. Service Details.
