Obituary of Gail Sapara
SAPARA - On November 6th, Gail, daughter of Martin and Olga (nee Ashley) Sapara, passed away in Yorkton Regional Hospital. She is survived by her loving sister Glenna (Mike) Sweeney, special niece Leigh (Shawn) Stimson and great niece Sarah, as well as many relatives and friends. Gail was well educated, well read, and well travelled. She was a very good listener as all her family and friends well knew. Gail graduated from Yorkton Collegiate and went on to University of Saskatchewan to take her Bachelor of Arts. This was followed with a Business Course in Regina and a year in the Air Force. She then took her RN training at Winnipeg Children’s Hospital which enabled her to travel and nurse in Africa and Saudi Arabia. She spent time in Laredo, Texas and many years at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. Her nursing was dedicated mostly to the health of the newborn (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).
Gail was a great reader (always suggesting to me what books I would enjoy from the library), loved her crossword puzzles and had a passion for travel. She loved spending time with friends, her immediate family and all her “special cousins “. When Gail retired from nursing, she returned to Yorkton to care for our mom. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her!
A special thank you is extended to the nursing staff of 1st West Team 2 in Yorkton Hospital for their care and compassion.
A family graveside memorial was held at the family plot in the Yorkton City Cemetery on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 with Rev. Luanne Hrywkiw of Holy Trinity Anglican Church officiating.
