Obituary of Verna Marie Dowling
DOWLING - After a brief illness, Verna passed away on Friday, November 16/2018 at the age of 88. She was born on Sept.1/1930 in Swift Current to Bill and Leone Pribyl. After attending school in Swift Current, she went on to work at a department store. She was united in marriage to Jack Dowling on June 29/1953 in Swift Current. Verna and Jack were blessed with 3 children, Ron, Dawna, and Jan. After several of Jack's work transfers, they finally settled in Yorkton in 1975.After working in retail for a few years, she decided to provide child care out of her home. She thoroughly enjoyed providing a loving environment to all the children she cared for. A twinkle in her eye and a broad smile greeted her grandchildren whenever they came to visit. Following retirement they moved into Independent Manor, where they relished the company of many old and new friends. Verna enjoyed her crocheting immensely, playing cards, bingo, and doing many puzzles with her friends.After encountering health issues, she was moved to the care of the Yorkton &District Nursing Home, where she resided till her passing.
Verna is predeceased by her husband Jack, her parents Bill & Leone Pribyl, daughter Dawna, brothers Wilfred and Bob, sister-in-law Sylvia ,brother-in-law Wib.
Verna is survived by son Ron & Brenda Dowling, daughter Jan & Barry Wihlidal and their children Angela & Scott Renaud (Ethan); Megan & Dylan McKinnon (Jaxon & Braedy); son-in-law Jim Kouri and his children Jennifer & Kevin Morton (Jayden & Tye); Kevin & Tierney Kouri (Bennett). Also mourning will be her brothers and sisters Frank (Betty) Pribyl, Louise Mackay, Thelma Pleckham, Frances (Ken) Badley,John (Blanda) Pribyl, sister-in-law Edna Pribyl.
A Gravesite interment will be held at a later date. Memorials in memory of Verna may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation as gifts of remembrance.
