Obituary of Annie Molnar

Annie Molnar (nee Mitrenga) was born on June 21, 1930 in the Fairland district near Melville, SK. She was the 2nd child & only daughter of John & Stella (nee Wesolosky) Mitrenga. Annie received all her education at Fairland school. As Annie grew up she was actively involved in the Baby Beef Club. In 1949 and 1950 she worked at Swift's Hatchery and then in 1952 began working at the Co-op Creamery where she maintained employment until she married. Annie met the love of her life William Molnar in May of 1952 and on October 15th, of the same year they were united in marriage at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in McKim. They lived on the Molnar homestead for the first two years of their married life. In 1954 they rented a house and a couple of quarters of land in the McKim district. In November of 1962 they purchased land in the Brewer district where they lived the rest of their married life. The purchase of their own home and land was truly the beginning of a long happy life together. Annie and William raised a family of six while running the family farm as true partners. Annie worked side-by-side with her "Willie". From fencing to stone picking to hauling bales and grain, then to the cattle, pigs and chickens. That partnership was still visible even when their two sons Earl and Garry joined the farming operation. Annie's contribution to their life did not stop there, it continued onto gardening, canning, cooking, baking & cleaning. Family and friends were always an important part of Annie's life and everyone was always welcome at the farm. When they arrived, they were sure to get something to eat. If not a full course meal, it was something delicious like donuts, coffee cake, strudel, and the list went on. Annie loved to play softball and over the years was honoured to be able to play with each of her four daughters & her only daughter-in-law. She enjoyed curling, bowling, sewing and quilting. She especially enjoyed playing games with the children. As busy as Annie was she also belonged to the Rosary Sodality and volunteered at the Church and Thrift Shop. Not long after William's death Annie was diagnosed with Dementia. In May of 2009 it became too hard for Annie to live on the farm, so she willingly moved to St. Philomena Manor in Melville where she resided until June of 2013, thanks to the generosity of the owner David Hudy. During these years she was still able to attend many family events such as birthdays, anniversaries, holiday gatherings, garden planting & harvesting. As her dementia worsened she needed to move to a more suitable care facility. For a short time she resided in the Langenburg Nursing home and in November of 2013 she moved to St Paul's Lutheran Home in Melville where she lived until her passing. Annie passed away peacefully to rejoin the love of her life on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Home with family by her side. Annie was predeceased by her loving husband William, her parents John & Stella Mitrenga, brother Edwin & many other family & friends.
