Obituary of Gladys Grace Giles

Gladys Grace Giles 1925 - 2018 Gladys peacefully passed away on September 26, 2018, at the age of 93 and Entered Eternal Life, after another battle with cancer. Mom was a woman of Faith and her trust in the lord guided her through her life. Predeceased by her husband Milton (1978) her 1st born daughter Lynn (2001) and her son Milton JR. (2011). Gladys leaves to cherish her memory 2 daughters, Marilynn (Ray) Parker of Winnipeg and Brenda (Bob) Chita of Kamloops; as well as 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Born in Bigger, Saskatchewan to Parents John and Grace Redfern. Gladys lived in Saskatchewan her whole life. At 13 she learned to tap dance and was in many recitals. Later she worked in a General Store. Gladys married in 1945, to the love of her life, Milton for 33 years, till he passed in 1978. In 1968 Gladys started to paint and became the 1st President of the Melville Arts Club. She was very talented and gifted; she painted scenery, animals and still life portraits. Gladys learned to carve birds and animals out of wood and struggled to lean to play the violin, both taught by her good friend Arnold Senft. Gladys sang at the St. Paul Lutheran home with a group of friends and played the organ in the church until the age of 92. Mom enjoyed her travels to see her oldest daughter Lynn, in Jakarta Insonesia and Scotland and England with her very good friend Harry Fedorki plus many trips to Winnipeg to see her daughter Marilynn and family and to Kamloops to see her daughter Brenda and family. She loved to swim and was always up for a party. Gladys was a "Beacon of Light", to all those that were fortunate enough to have her come into their lives. She embraced everyone she met and was always giving and kind to others, donating to many charities to help those less fortunate, was always at the top her list. Mom was a pillar of strength to those around her… and we will miss you! Thanks to the nurses and staff at St. Paul Lutheran Home, you are all amazing as mom said "they are all so kind".
