Obituary of John "Scott" Clark

CLARK - Scott Clark husband of the late Edna Clark of the Veteran's Ward of the Wascanna Rehabilitation Centre in Regina, formerly of Kelliher passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the age of ninety eight-years. Scott was born on the farm at Kelliher to John (Jack) and Isabella on April 4, 1920. His schooling was taken at Eastward. After school, he immediately began working on the family farm with plans to farm on his own. Scott signed up with the Canadian Army at the age of twenty-one, transferring to the Saskatoon Light Infantry as a driver of a Bren-gun carrier. He was a fully trained Infantry solider and qualified as driver mechanic. Scott served in England, Sicily, Italy, Belgium, France and Holland. After the war he returned to Kelliher to marry his sweetheart, Edna Gustafson. They were blessed with 3 sons; Darryl (Beth), Glen (Val), Blair (Diane). Scott is pre-deceased by his parents, wife Edna, brothers Tom and Ned and son Glen. He is survived by his sister Annabel (Hugh) Ritzer of Winnipeg; sister-in-law Edith Davis of Saskatoon; son Darryl (Beth) and family; daughter-in-law Val and family; Blair (Diane) and family; eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and community service were priorities in Scott's life. He moved into Kelliher in 1981, but continued to help out at both Darryl and Glen's farm. Scott moved to a senior's complex in Regina in 2012. In 2014 he moved to the Veteran's Ward at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre where he resided until his death. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from the Kelliher School Gymnasium with Rev. Brian Mee of the United Church of Canada officiating. The pianist, Judy Wesa led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, Beyond the Sunset, It Is Well With My Soul and How Great Thou Art. Scott's granddaughters sang a tribute "Grandpa". A tribute and words of remembrance were given by son, Blair Clark. The Legion Service of Remembrance was performed by members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 219. The interment followed in the Kelliher Memorial Gardens with Blair and Darryl Clark serving as the urnbearers.
