Obituary of Wilhelm Friedrich Schultz

Wilhelm Friedrich Schultz of Yorkton, Saskatchewan and formerly of Rhein, stepped into the presence of God on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the age of 91.William was born in Cymric, Saskatchewan August 1, 1926, to Gottfried and Anna Schultz (Kelln). He was the youngest of five children. After his father Gottfried had passed away, William along with his mother and his sister Martha moved to Rhein and started a new chapter in their lives. He completed his education and got a start in farming with some help from a dear brother in law. On October 9, 1949, William married Erma Rothenberger and together they raised their three daughters and farmed the land. They worked side by side. Milking cows, gardening, bringing in the bales, bringing in the harvest and even going into town together for repairs. They worked so well as a team and through it all taught us so much. William was our dear father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was all about fun. Playing cricket, helping with paper routes, curling with the grandchildren in their school bonspiels, bonfires in the back yard, playing cards, and family celebrations. He enjoyed participating in softball and curling in his younger years. He loved watching all sports. William was a member of the Rhein & District Lions Club and served the community in that way for many years. He was a friend to many. Meeting at the Golden Agers was a routine. He was well known for his sense of humor and especially his easy going manner. He loved to laugh and he loved to see others laugh. In 2010, William moved into Yorkton and there continued to enjoy retirement and the companionship of his devoted friend Vera Hudema. In March of 2017 he became a resident of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home. He enjoyed many good days there, and many good games of crib. He was thankful for all. He was a lifelong, faithful member of the Rhein Christ Lutheran Church. On the quiet and serene evening that he had passed away, we rang the church bells - 91 times. Wilhelm was predeceased by his wife Erma in 1997, mother Anna in 1988, father Gottfried in 1934, stepfather Conrad Liebrecht in 1967, infant sister Ada in 1924, brother Gottfried in 2003 and brother Henry in 2009.
