Obituary of Mary Isabel Bamford
Mary Isabel Bamford was born on May 4, 1934 in the Orangeville District of Saskatchewan near Moosomin. She spent her childhood on the family farm with her parents and five sisters and one brother before moving to Regina to work as a telephone operator. Isabel married Donavon Bamford in Regina on March 12, 1953 and they moved to Calgary in 1954 where they remained until moving to Melville in 2013. Isabel worked mainly in retail and was always known for her strong work ethic and great sense of humour. Many work colleagues remained life-long friends. She was an amazing cook and baker and loved decorating and flower gardening. Her yard and home were always beautiful. She was a wonderful mother and always welcomed our friends and various strays as well. When the back door opened at lunch time she never knew who or how many kids would show up. Often they weren't even hers! Above everything else she loved her family. Her sisters were her best friends throughout her whole life, their children and grandchildren meant the world to her too. Her own grandchildren were her pride and joy and she was a huge influence in their lives. Her razor sharp wit and gift for storytelling made family occasions a real joy. I think most of us will remember the laughter we were so fortunate to share with her above all else. Isabel is survived by her husband Don Bamford, her children Michael Bamford, Carol Bamford, and Brenda Bamford, her grandchildren Blake Bamford (Shianne), and Mikayla Dusel (Tim), her great grandchildren Peter Dusel and Grayson Bamford, her sister Janet Kellow and her brother Garry Nicol. Isabel was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Katie Nicol, her sisters Margaret Adie, Joyce McKay, Ruth Hesse, Kay Armstrong, and her beloved son Gregg Bamford. At Mary's request there will be no service at this time and the interment will be held at a later date.
