Obituary of Kenneth Robert Benjestorf

Kenneth Robert Benjestorf was born on November 6, 1943 at Melville, Saskatchewan; a son of Albert and Emma (nee Miller) Benjestorf. He was raised on the family farm and attended the Green Bush School. As a young man he took up farming full time, and together with his brother Christian, operated a successful farm in the Fenwood district for close to 50 years. They retired from active farming in 2012 and moved to Yorkton, where they have since resided. Ken had suffered heart problems in past years, but his passing came suddenly on Thursday, November 9th 2017 at his home in Yorkton. He was 74 years of age. In younger years he was very sports minded, participating in both summer and winter sports. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, and was always prepared for the annual hunting season to arrive. He also grew a large garden on the farm during the summer months. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Albert & Emma; a sister Violet in infancy, and by a brother Gordon. He is survived by five sisters: Eileen Grubb; Betty (John) Perdue; Cathy Frew; Joyce (Andy) Chupa; and Ruth Benjestorf; two brothers: Christian Benjestorf; and Erving (Carol) Benjestorf; several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, as well as his many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 13th 2017 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Doreen Day officiating. A family tribute was given by Brynn Chupa. Musical selections were How Great Thou Art, and the Farmers Song. The interment followed in the Garden of St. John with Brian Chupa & David Benjestorf serving as the urnbearers.
