Obituary of Sylvia Kopan
Sylvia Kopan was born July 17, 1937 to John and Annie (nee Statz) Buratenski in the Theodore district, she was the youngest of thirteen children. She passed away on August 5, 2017 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. In 1954 she married Walter Kopan and they had one son, Larry. They farmed in the Insinger district until moving to Yorkton in 1980, where they purchased a home on Wellington Ave. She grew large gardens and enjoyed sharing their bounties. Sylvia gained employment with Home Care and worked there until 2002. She greatly enjoyed working with the seniors and often made friends with them and their families. After work Sylvia could be seen at the bingo hall which she enjoyed. They lived on Wellington Ave. until Walter passed away in 2008, Sylvia then moved to Queen Elizabeth Court where she resided till present. Sylvia made many friends at the court and enjoyed all activities including cards, bingo, coffee, lunches and visiting on the deck. She also enjoyed visits from family and friends and made sure they had lunch before they left. Many times it was ready and on the table when they got there. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents John and Annie, her brothers Bill, Peter, Alex, Walter and Stanley, sisters; Verna, Olga, Vicky, Helen, Jose, Jean and Mary. She leaves to mourn her son Larry and his wife Loretta of Good Spirit Acres, grandsons Lance and Lonny Kopan of Regina, granddaughter Larissa and husband Warren Steinley of Grand Coulee and their children Nickson, Claire and Jameson. Also leaves a sister-in-law, Victoria Buratenski, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Darlene, her special niece, was always there for her, taking her shopping and talking on the phone daily. Service Information
