Obituary of Herta Louise Pakosh

PAKOSH - Mrs. Herta Pakosh of Saskatoon, formerly of Yorkton and Mikado passed away peacefully on June 4, 2017 in the presence of her daughter and granddaughter. Herta Louise Gellert was born on April 6, 1919 to Alex and Hulda Gellert in the Stornoway district. She was the 3rd eldest child in a family of six. She received her education in Stornoway and learned all aspects of working on the family farm. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed baking and preparing delicious meals. She was an avid gardener, preserving and canning the produce. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting in her spare time and also grew plenty of flowers.Herta met and married William Pakosh on February 20, 1943. They continued farming in the Mikado district and worked many long, hard years. They were avid curlers and enjoyed hosting their friends. Herta became a resident of the Yorkton Nursing Home and later the Parkridge Centre in Saskatoon. Herta leaves to cherish her memory, her son Austin (Annabel) and daughter Joyce, grandchildren Lisa, Darryl, Wendy, Gary, Laurel & Carey and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, her husband William in 2004 and granddaughter Raina Wallace in 2015. Mom, Thank you for all your giving, caring and love. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Jen Dresser of St. Andrew's United Church officiating. The organist, Sharon Litvanyi accompanied in the musical hymns, Love's Divine, All Love Excelling" and "Amazing Grace". Laurel Wallace paid tribute to her grandmother. The interment followed in the Garden of St. John at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Gary Pakosh, Darryl Pakosh, Austin Pakosh, Orville Drobot, Bernard Marchinko and Harold Popoff serving as the casket bearers.
