Obituary of Geraldine Pelletier

PELLETIER - At 83 years of age, on Wednesday, May 10th at 7:50 in the morning at Parkside Extendicare our good Lord Jesus came to guide our mother Geraldine Pelletier (Natah-Wah-Hew-Esquay, 'Good Flying Eagle Woman') home to start her journey into the spirit world along with her loved ones. Geraldine Pelletier was born on Muscowpetung Reservation on January 27th 1934. Geraldine was predeceased by her parents Daniel & Elysa (nee Cappo) Pelletier; brother Donald and sisters Yvonne, Lorena, Eulalie, and recently Merylene. Geraldine leaves to cherish her three children: daughter her "Baby" Fawn Riva (nee Pelletier) Mahingen and Sharon (Russell) Pelletier, and her only son Gerhardt (Gary) Weigl (Sandra Brazeau). Geraldine liked to be called 'Gerry' for short. She was a daughter, mother and grandmother (Kookum), also a great grandmother, auntie, and a cousin. Geraldine as a young girl was raised on her parents farm just south of Yorkton, and worked alongside her siblings. At a young age she left home and worked as a waitress in café's, did office cleaning, to chambermaid. With only a grade 5 education, she self taught herself how to read and write, as Ituna School orphanage did not provide the education for her. Geraldine worked hard, even if it meant two or three jobs just to put a roof over our heads, food on the table, and clothes on our backs, and no matter what Geraldine would always find a way to make time to spend with her children, even as a grandmother, and a great grandmother. Geraldine helped raise three grandchildren, Donovan Ivan Weigl, Blaze Dylon Mahingen, and Shania Heaven Mahingen, and also her great grandson Jesse Stradeski. For a time Geraldine treated her grandchildren and her great grandchildren like they were her very own, and she would go down swinging if someone hurt her loved ones. When Geraldine got mad and bit her lip everyone knew to run. She was her own character in God given right, but did it in a way with class and style. Geraldine as an aunt thought the world of nephews Daniel (Donna) Pelletier, Brian (Valerie) Pelletier and Patrick Pelletier. Then there was Geraldine's other grandchildren, Parry Paul Pelletier, Lisa Pauline Pelletier, Gary Paul Pelletier and Jeremy & Jennifer. As well as Geraldine's great grandchildren, Sierra Ray Weigl and Kayden Weigl, from Donovan Weigl (Misty Marie Nordwinck). Also her vast Pelletier/Cappo family, including Michelle Kennedy, Yvonne Steininger and too many others to name, that keep her in mind and spirit but not forgotten. Later on in the years Geraldine was forced into retirement, so after retirement 'Gerry" got cable TV hooked up and discovered the A & E channel. She loved watching Unsolved Mysteries with Robert Stack, and America's Most Wanted and other crime related stories. She would sit on her love seat dining tea and a cigarette in one hand, watching her crime shows. That's the one thing Geraldine loved to do most and heavens to bid she didn't like being interrupted at all, not till commercial time came, or the show was over. Geraldine was a strong, powerful woman and that's what made her beautiful, she was quick to have her guard up and fight for what she believed in. She will be forever missed and loved by those who knew her. Funeral service was held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from the Chaple of Bailey's Funeral Home with Fr. Francis Hengen officiating. Interment followed in the City Cemetery, pallbearers were Perry & Reuben Pelletier, Donovan Weigl and Blaze Mahingen.
