Obituary of "Lloyd" Donald Wilson

Mr. Lloyd Wilson of Good Spirit Lake, beloved husband of Marjorie Wilson passed away on March 18, 2017 age the age of 82 years. Donald Lloyd Wilson was born on September 7, 1934 at Indian Head, Saskatchewan. He was one of 9 children born to Horace & Ella (Wright) Wilson. He received his education at Kenlis School and Tipperary School and then went to high school in Balcarres. Lloyd started his employment at the Co-op Refinery in Regina, a position which he held for 37 years from 1956 until June 1993. On September 12, 1959 he married the love of his life, Marjorie Berrns of Springside. They lived and worked in Regina until their retirement and then moved to Good Spirit Lake where they spent many happy years. He was predeceased by his parents, Ella & Horace Wilson; sisters Leith, Annie and Grace, and his brother Leonard. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie; his sisters Helen Morton of Fort St. John, B.C., Alice Bedel of Fort Qu'Appelle and Fern Sandercock of Balcarres; brother Ken of Yorkton; and brother-in-law Gordon Berrns of Yorkton, plus numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Lloyd had a keen interest in the environment and was a member of the group, Friends of Good Spirit Lake. He and Marjorie, as well as Bill & Joyce Anaka, and Ray & Dorothy Riesz took part in the official bird count done annually in their area. He loved nature and took countless pictures of animals, sunrises and sunsets, and captured the beauty of Good Spirit Lake. He was an avid gardener and always had a vegetable garden, and their yard was filled with an abundance of amazing flowers. He especially loved growing tomatoes and would end up giving most of them away to family and friends. Lloyd and Marjorie were Saskatchewan Roughrider season ticket holders for many years and did not miss very many games. One of Lloyd's wishes was to be able to see the new stadium, but sadly, he never had the chance. Lloyd loved animals and looked forward to the winter time when the deer would visit their yard. He would give them the occasional treat and they returned, year after year. He totally enjoyed his beloved cat, Orangey and had a soft spot in his heart for the many stray cats that seemed to appear on his doorstep. But above all, he was in his element when he was cruising Good Spirit Lake in his boat. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre, Yorkton with Crystal Bailey, B.Th. officiating.
