Obituary of Annie Slogotski

SLOGOTSKI - Annie was born on November 12, 1918, the first of five children born to Tony and Violet Pocherewny. She married Albert Slogotski in 1937 and became a farm wife in the Buchanan district. They had three children; Bernie (Thedra) of Calgary, Beverley (Niles) of St. Albert and Veronica of Saskatoon; six grandchildren; Ryan (Geri-Lynne) of Victoria, Angela (Jaye) of St. Albert, Kyle (Jennifer) of Victoria, Amber (Marc) of Calgary, Carlene (Joel) of Edmonton, Jasmine of Saskatoon and five great-grandchildren; Ethan, Lizzie, Payton, Logan and MacKenzie. Annie loved gardening and flowers and always grew an enormous farm garden. She was always busy with helping on the farm, canning and preserving, sewing all the family's clothes and providing home cooked meals. She was a great cook and no one ever went away hungry at Annie's home. Annie's greatest love was her family. She was so happy when family came to visit at which time she provided the most scrumptious meals including her delicious homemade pies! Having consumed tens-of-thousands of them, her grandchildren will attest that Grandma's perogies were the very best in the world! She loved to curl and later in life watched it regularly. Annie was always active in the church, serving in the choir and a CWL member at which she served many church suppers. In 1975 she and Albert moved to Canora, where she worked at a local motel for many years. After 61 years of marriage, Albert passed away in 1998. In 2011 she moved to a seniors' residence in St. Albert, Alberta, where she resided until her passing on February, 25, 2017 at the age of 98. The funeral service was held on Saturday, March 4th 2017 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. Rev. Fr. Francis Hengen of St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church officiated. Pianist, Shani Apland led soloist, Colette Karapita in the singing of the hymns ‘Amazing Grace' and ‘Precious Lord, Take My Hand'. Eulogists were Niles Duggan, Carlene Kaup and Ryan Slogotski. The lay-readers were Amber Brodziak & Kathy Klammer. Following the memorial luncheon in the Reception Centre, the interment took place in the Canora Town Cemetery with Al Pocherewny, Niles Duggan, Ryan Slogotski, Carlene Kaup, Alvin Biletsky and Leonard Slogotski serving as the casketbearers.
