Obituary of Steve Shebeluk

SHEBELUK - Steve Shebeluk was born in the Wroxton District, the third child out of the five children to Carl and Annie (Perepeluk) Shebeluk on February 2, 1922. Steve was married to Lena (Bewcyk) on December 15, 1945. Steve was very pleasant to be with. His sense of humor and smiles brought joy and warmth to his family, friends and anyone around him. He especially loves to read and accumulated a great of wealth of history and knowledge. He also loves to spend his quality time in his farm workshop. He had a passion for attending auction sales. He would not miss any opportunity to fill up his truck with goodies. He enjoyed travelling and he travelled to Mexico, Cuba, and Alaska. He also spent a few winters in Arizona. Steve devoted all his life on farming. For a few winters in his earlier years, he had the opportunity to work for Ruff's Furniture and Co-op Poultry Plant in Yorkton. He was both grain and cattle farming until 1988 and remained as a grain farmer afterwards. In 2004 he and his wife semi-retired and moved to Yorkton and continued with grain farming until last fall (2016) when he reached the age of 94. Steve passed away on February 8, 2017 at the Yorkton Hospital. Steve was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Annie; his wife, Lena; his sisters, Mary (Moskalyk), Ada (Yanko), and Irene (Bewcyk) and his daughter, Marvelyn (Balabuk). He leaves to mourn his passing and celebrate his life his sister Elsie; son Cliff (May), son-in-law Walter Balabuk; five grandchildren Jason (Rhoda), Valerie (Melvin), Trevor (Elana), Halian and Amber; five great grandchildren Brennan, Justin, Landon, Emmerson and Riezel and special friends to the family, Bernice and Felix Juzyniec and Mary Schick, as well as many nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held on Saturday, February 18th 2017 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. Doreen Day officiated. The eulogy and tributes were given by grandchildren Trevor Balabuk and Halian Shebeluk. Casketbearers were Trevor Balabuk, Brennan, Justin, Melvin & Valerie Fatteicher, and Amber & Halian Shebeluk. The interment took place in the Garden of St. John. Condolences can be left at baileysfuneralhome.com. Memorials were to the Health Foundation.
