Obituary of Anne Chaikowsky

Mrs. Anne Chaikowsky, beloved wife of the late Stanley Chaikowsky, passed away peacefully at the Ituna Pioneer Health Care Centre on January 16, 2017 at the age of 96 with daughter Marie and son-in-law Leonard at her side. Anne was born on July 20, 1920 to Nick and Mary Krywulak (nee Dmyterko) in the Beckenham district. She attended Runnymede School (Winthorpe district), a typical one room country school. While living at home, she worked hard helping her parents and also helping her older married siblings. On August 6, 1944, Anne married Stanley Chaikowsky at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. They were blessed with four children: Paul, Nicholas, Terry and Marie. They lived on and operated a mixed farm operation in the Parkerview area growing crops and raising cattle, chickens and pigs. She loved planting plentiful gardens and growing beautiful flowers. During her entire life on the farm, she worked extremely hard with few modern conveniences. When Anne and Stanley retired from farming in1975, they purchased a home in Ituna and enjoyed the peace and tranquility of small town living. While living in Ituna, Anne became involved with the church, still planting her lovely garden and enjoying coffee with her neighbours. As her mobility declined, she was forced to leave her home and became a resident of St. Anne's Christian Centre. Subsequently, she moved to a Personal Care Home in Balcarres for a two year period. Anne's health further declined and she was admitted to the Ituna Pioneer Health Care Centre where she lived the last eight years of her life. Anne was a very humble person who showed her children that suffering is a part of life and a way of fulfilling God's will. During the last several years, she indeed was a true disciple of suffering. Her suffering has now ended and she has been granted eternal peace with our Lord. She is survived by son Paul (Lily) Chaikowsky and grandchildren Laurieanne and Brent; son Nicholas (Louise) Chaikowsky and grandchild Tracy (Joe) Kowall, great grandchild Nicholas (Kirsten) Kowall and great great grandchildren Clover, Ivy, great grandchildren Zachary and Cassidy; grandchild Carol Chaikowsky and great grandchildren Kennadee, Owen, and Carter; grandchild Shauna (Allan) Pollock and great grandchildren Ruby and Lily; son Terry (Vicki) Chaikowsky and grandchild Renae (Darrin) Sharp & great grandchildren Emma and Noah; grandchild Corinne (Ryan) Palka; daughter Marie (Leonard) Antonishyn and grandchild Stanley (Celina Delorme).
