Obituary of Thresia Marie Tedeschi

TEDESCHI - Ms. Thresia Tedeschi aged ninety-six years of Yorkton. Marie Tedeschi was born on May 9th 1920 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Thresia went home for Christmas to her Lord and Savior on December 25, 2016. A daughter of Louis and Margaret (nee Swereda) Tedeschi. Thresia grew up in Yorkton and attended Victoria School and later, Yorkton Collegiate Institute. After graduation, Thresia worked as a secretary for St Joseph's College and then Butter Graders office in Yorkton. On August 26th 1940, she began working for SaskTel and continued with that company in various positions and built a career that lasted 43 years. Thresia enjoyed her career at SaskTel, working with the public as they came in to pay their phone bills. Thresia was very proud of SaskTel and being a member of the Pioneers, a volunteer network. She made many long lasting friendships with colleagues, especially Adeline and Larry Markham. Following her retirement, Thresia remained active with her friends and family and her many interests, especially her church. She served her church and those with religious vocations faithfully and generously. She was a dedicated parishioner of St Gerard's Roman Catholic Church and a charter member of the Catholic Women's League of Canada. Thresia was predeceased by her mother, Margaret in 1962, her father Louis in 1968, her sisters, Edna Tedeschi, Gladys Naphin, Marion Eckhart, Irene Fennessy, Leona Pawluk, Margaret Gorell, and Louis, Vivian and Violet Jean in infancy. Thresia was also predeceased by two nephews, Richard Fennessy and Doug Allan, and one grand niece, Dr. Angela Lindberg. Left to remember Auntie Thresia's kindness and loyalty to family are four nephews, Michael Fennessy, Patrick Naphin, Robert Naphin, and Dennis Naphin; five nieces, Jean Frederick, Marg Schellenburg, Diana Lee Brown, Heather Allan (wife of Doug), and Mary-Anne Naphin; and twenty-two great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Home Care staff and nurses that assisted her so she could live in her home for many years before going into the nursing home. Thresia remained in her family home, 138 First Avenue North, for 88 1/2 years. Thank you also to the Yorkton Nursing Home staff and private care givers, Iris Yaremko and Bernice Machushek, and devoted friend Sister Nestor Kyba. Special thanks also go out to many of her friends and neighbours. Yorkton's spirit of helping one another shone. Thresia was so proud to be a Yorktonite. A Prayer Vigil was held on Friday, January 6, 2017. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, January, 7 2017 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. Miriam Leis served as the crossbearer. Pianist, Chris Fisher with members of the parish choir led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, ‘This Day God Gives Me', ‘Psalm 103', ‘This Alone', ‘Here I Am Lord', ‘Lord's Prayer', ‘Song of the Angels' and ‘Though the Mountains May Fall'. Members of the C.W. L. served as a Honour guard. Interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Michael Fennessy, Pat Skaluba, Susan Caie, Aaron Korchinski, Ryan Naphin, Michael Naphin and Kate Petrie serving as the casketbearers. Memorials honouring Thresia's life may be made to Camp O'Neil or to St. Gerard's Church Memorial Fund as gifts of remembrance.
