Obituary of Andrew Byblow

BYBLOW - Mr. Andrew Byblow of Melville, beloved husband of Sylvia Byblow entered eternal rest on October 20, 2016. He was 83 years of age. Andrew was born on January 8, 1933 in Springside, Sask. to John and Katherine Byblow. He was one of 13 children, and family always played a very important role in his life. He attended school in Springside and later St. Joseph's College in Yorkton, where he graduated a year early in 1950. He married the love of his life, Sylvia, on January 25, 1953, and had his first son, Daryl in 1955 and his second son Ashley in 1969. Andy, Sylvia and family went on to experience life and travel. Andrew had a gift for meeting people, and his wit and charm enabled him to excel in both sales jobs and business ownership. Andrew and Sylvia spent several years as owners of a paint and carpet store in Melville. He sold the business and returned to sales, selling advertising for a Yorkton radio station. In 1980, Andrew and his family relocated to Penticton, BC. and Andrew returned to his roots selling carpet and paint. He retired and returned home to Saskatchewan in 1994, but couldn't give up work, so he continued to sell carpet and paint in Yorkton. Andrew was far more than work, however. He was a charter member and very active with the Melville Lions club. He dedicated countless hours to coaching youth baseball and coached both of his sons throughout their lives. His love of making things with his hands led to many a niece or nephew or their children receiving hand-made wooden toys, tables, or rocking horses. Andrew was very generous with his time and would never hesitate to help anyone who asked. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Andrew has left us to join his brothers Steve, Vincent, and Paul Byblow, his sisters Adele Collins and Minnie Switzer, and his brothers-in-law Fred Pawliw and Tony Achtemichuk. Andrew will be looking down and smiling upon Sylvia, his wife of nearly 63 years, his son Daryl (and his wife Cheryl), his son Ashley (and his wife Alicia), his granddaughters Lyndsey (and husband Michael) and Alanna (and husband Justin) and his great-granddaughter Isabella. Andrew will also be looking down and watching over his brother Peter Byblow, his sister Olga Achtemichuk, sister Sonja Pawliw, brother Zenon, sister Jean Spilak, brother-in-law Ed Switzer, sister-in-law Francis Byblow, and sister-in-law Helen Byblow, along with countless nieces and nephews. Prayers were held on Sunday, October 23, 2016 and the Funeral Liturgy Monday, October 24, 2016 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Bohdan Lukie, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The cross bearer was Tricia Switzer (Bree Walchuk) and the epistle reader was Jean Spilak. Serving as casket bearers were Grant Walchuk, Steven Byblow, Ed Spilak, Stan Byblow, Michael Twan and Justin Stevens. The interment took place in the Garden of Gethsemane at Yorkton Memorial Gardens.
