Obituary of Louise Marie Gregory

GREGORY - Alva Gregory of Yorkton passed away on October 19, 2016 at the age of 76 years. "Alva" Louise Marie Gregory was born on September 23, 1940 at the RM of Gladstone MB. She lived in numerous places including Binscarth, Russell, Toronto, ON, Saskatoon SK., Banff, AB, Canmore AB. and Yorkton, SK. Although she had a limited education, she worked various jobs including house cleaning, cook and a custodian. She was also a live in childcare/housekeeper for the Boucher families, which turned into a special bond of friendship that lasted for years. Louise raised her six children, mostly a single parent in Manitoba. The Gregory house was a common gathering place for friends and family, you would always see children playing road hockey, hide and seek otr bumper shining. As she grew older, she enjoyed spending time with her kids and their families. Louise was a kind hearted lady who had many friendships that lasted her lifetime. Here is just some of the friends we could recall; Alma Belhumeur, Dennis Belhumeur, Judy Venne, Caroline Prier, Gloria Fleury, Vivvian Smith, Alex Pelletier and Pauline Ernest. Also the friends whom she is now reunited with; Della Belhumeur, Alvina Ducharme, Margaret Genaille, Alice Pelletier, Lily Demontigny, Mable Belhumeur, Victoria Genaille, Jimmy and Della Tanner. Louise enjoyed bingo, playing cards, casino and of course visiting and laughing with her friends and family. She also enjoyed her smoking with her friend JR, who always playfully called her old lady. She spent a lot of time with her home companion, Shadow, who misses her more and more each day. And of course, her brothers who held a special place in her heart. As a typical family, they didn't always see eye to eye but they knew they loved each other, and were always there for each other, especially in times of need for support. She was predeceased by her parents Frank Gregory & Eleanor Fleury, brothers; Joseph Fleury and Daniel Fleury, sisters-in-law; Victoria Fleury and Georgina Gregory, sisters; Doris Gregory, Alice St. Pierre, and an infant son during childbirth. Alva is survived by her brothers; Lawrence Fleury, Albert (Marie) Gregory, William (Dianna) Gregory, children; Doris Gregory, grandchildren; Joshua Gregory, Rebecca Musqua, great grandchildren; Caleb, Carter and Weston grandson Dakota Gregory, Esther Petersen, grandchildren Lily Petersen & Handrik Petersen, Corrinna Mah-Gregory, Helen (Jason) Leclerc, grandchildren; Nicholas Leclerc, Cody Leclerc, Jaylee Leclerc, Bradley Allarie & Ryan Seitz, Della Gregory (Brad Bienias), granddaughter Skylah Bienias, Fabian (Patricia) Gregory, grandchildren; Breanna Gregory, Alicia Gregory, Chris Gregory (Karen Leclerc), grandchildren; Bradley Gregory, Brennan Gregory, Mykayla Gregory & Maya Gregory and also granddaughter Amanda Fleury and numerous nieces and nephews. A Wake was held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Yorkton Friendship Centre. The Funeral Mass was held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. The cross bearer was Mikayla Gregory. Pianist, Chris Fisher accompanied St. Gerard's Choir in sing the hymns, Amazing Grace, Psalm 138, On Eagle's Wings, Be Not Afraid, Song of the Angels and Old Rugged Cross. The readers were Barb Emmrich and Marieanne Gregory and gift bearers were Breanna Gregory and Skylah Bienias. Tributes and words of remembrance were shared by Helen Leclerc. The honourary bearers were Gloria Fleury, Vivian Smith, Alma Belhumeur, Beatrice Pelletier and all of her godchildren and extended grandchildren. The interment took place in Ste. Madeleine Parish Cemetery, Binscarth district of Manitoba with Kookum's boys, Joshua Gregory, Dakota Gregory, Nicholas Leclerc, Cody Leclerc, Bradly Gregory, Brennan Gregory, Handrik Petersen and Ryan Seitz serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Alva may be made to the Intensive Care Unit of the Yorkton Regional Health Centre.
