Obituary of Yvette Maria Yacyshyn

YACYSHYN - Yvette was born on February 11, 1962 at Kamsack, Saskatchewan; a daughter of Lena (nee Marchuk) and Tom Yacyshyn. She grew up in Pelly until the age of five, then moved to Churchbridge, where she attended elementary school. At age 17 Yvette moved to Yorkton where she attended the Regional High School. After graduation she began working at Shoppers Drug Mart from 1980 to 1989, then worked at Sherman's drug Mart for a brief time. Then in 1990 she moved to Melville and began working at St. Paul Lutheran Home, where she enjoyed taking care of her elders, and met many life-long friends. At the age of 39, Yvette was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer. She remained in remission for 10 years before it reappeared throughout her body. She continued to fight the disease with all her strength until she lost the battle on Sunday, September 25th, 2016. During her marriage, Yvette was blessed with a son, Serge, whom she loved and adored. Her biggest joy in life was cheering him on in the many sports he participated in, including Motocross racing. Serge was her greatest joy in life and it tore her to pieces to leave him. Predeceased by her parents, Tom Yacyshyn (2002), and Lena Yacyshyn (2013), as well as several aunts and uncles, Yvette leaves to cherish her memory her son Serge of Yorkton; her brothers: Dwayne (Brenda) of Regina; Dwight (Maryann) of Yorkton; sisters: Yvonne (Alvin) Dyer of Calgary; and Debby (Larry) Demers of Coombs, BC; nieces and nephews: Noel & Nicole Dyer of Calgary; Cody & Mitchell Yacyshyn of Yorkton; also a great niece, Chloe Dyer of Calgary; as well as her many other relatives and friends. The Service of Remembrance was held on Friday, September 30th 2016 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Pastor Trevor Cherry officiating. Sheila Sharp gave the eulogy. Special music for the service was provided by Ray Sedley & Norm Sharp. The interment followed in the Garden of Memories with son Serge as the urnbearer.
