Obituary of Bonnie-Jean Muir

MUIR - Bonnie Muir was born on April 22, 1953 at the Yorkton Union Hospital, a daughter of Leslie and Joyce Muir. Bonnie grew up on the family farm, attended the Orkney United Church and Sunday School. She attended Orcadia, Yorkdale and the Regional High School. Upon graduation Bonnie worked in retail until the age of 37, at which time she enrolled into the University of Saskatchewan, graduating with a bachelor of Commerce degree at age 40, reaching her goal of graduating on her birthday. While in third year Bonnie met Roy Carlson. Roy took Bonnie and her two children, David & Erin as his own. In 1992 the couple were married and moved to Yorkton in 1994. Bonnie was employed at the Saskatoon City Hospital with the foundation, and later with the Sunrise Health District. When Roy joined the Northern Nursing Department, Bonnie joined him on his northern adventure, working in the education department in Pikangikum, northern Ontario. A homebody at heart, Bonnies was most comfortable doing her quilting, sewing, baking and cooking, as she was always trying new recipes with her family & friends. Bonnie endured many medical challenges over the past 10 years, and had been in very poor health recently. She passed away on Saturday, August 6th, exactly 5 months after Roy's death on March 6th. Bonnie lived life to the fullest, and was grateful that she and Roy had done more in their lives than most other people. Besides her husband Roy, Bonnie was predeceased by her father, Les Muir (Sept. 2, 2015) and by her brother Grant (April 25, 2010). Lovingly remembered by her children: David of Yorkton; Erin (Rob) Clifford of Yorkton and their two daughters Rhyen & Rochelle; her mother, Joyce Muir; her sister, Carol La-Paire; Roy's son Timothy; and by sisters-in-law, Laverne Karlsen and Grace Dix, and their families. Cremation took place at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Crematorium and the Celebration of Life service was held on Thursday afternoon, August 11, 2016 from the Orkney Stone Church with Crystal Bailey, B.Th. officiating. Theo Tiba, Cecilia Elizabeth & Karen Muir all gave tributes to Bonnie-Jean. Musical selections were 'Amazing Grace' and 'Lean On Me'. The interment took place in the Orkney Cemetery with son David as the urnbearer. Memorials in Bonnie-Jean's memory may be made to the Orkney Historical Society, c/o Mr. Ken Norman 83 4th Ave. N.
