Obituary of Edward Peter Yeroschak

YEROSCHAK - Ed passed away peacefully from this life on the evening of June 25th 2016 at the Jowsey House in Yorkton. He was comforted and supported by his family during his last days. Ed was born in Grandview, MB October 15, 1944. He was the oldest child of the now deceased Peter Yeroschak (2014) and Mary (Skocylas) Yeroschak (1990). Ed had 12 siblings, predeceased by his sister Margaret (at birth), brother Robert (1972) and sister-in-law Marina (2008). At the young age of 17 Ed moved to Thompson MB where he would start his lifelong career as a miner. During this time Ed met his bride Veronica Ostrowski and married in July 15, 1967 and had 2 daughters, Chantelle Forsyth and Rashele Wasylenchuk during their stay in Thompson. During this almost 13 year period Ed made many good friends and formed close relationships with his fellow miners many which would last a lifetime. Ed and Veronica would then journey on to Campbell River BC where Ed would continue with his mining career continuing to raise his family and make many good friends. He would enjoy fishing in the Strait of Georgia and camping at various places with family and friends. Ed would become an avid gardener and became renowned for his home grown tomatoes. In 1980 Ed and Veronica then moved to Yorkton which would be Ed's final home. Ed would go on to work and then retire from the Mosaic Potash Co after 47 years of mining. During this time Ed loved to play fastball and broomball with his 8 brothers and would later help coach his daughters. Ed would continue to meet and develop many new friendships through work, curling and bowling. He enjoyed traveling to the US to visit his daughter and grandchildren. Ed is survived by his wife Veronica, daughters Chantelle (James) and Rashele (Barry) and 3 grandchildren Danielle, Ian and Maeghan, as well as his 10 siblings: Gerry (Irene), Morris, Randy, Martin (Kathy), Dave (Susan), Sheila (Ted), Alvin (Charlene), Chris (Susan), Rick (Collen) and Karen (Shane). Goodbye Ed/Dad you have blessed us with your presence in our lives and you leave a hole that will never be filled. But we know you are in a better place, rest in peace. Prayers were held on Tuesday evening, June 28th 2016 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton. Fr. Francis Hengen presided. The Lector was Amber Zorn, and Ed's daughter Chantelle gave the family tribute. Pianist, Allison Kruger led members of the Parish Choir in the singing of the hymns 'Here I Am Lord', and 'Amazing Grace'. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday morning, June 29th from St. Gerard's Church with Fr. Hengen as Celebrant. The crossbearer was Chris Yeroschak, the Lectors were James Forsyth & Taylor Yeroschak, and the Gift-bearers were Danielle & Maeghan Forsyth. Pianist, Diana Hornung led the Parish Choir and the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'On Eagles Wings', 'Precious Lord', 'I Am the Bread of Life', 'Song of the Angels' and 'Though the Mountains May Fall'. Honorary bearers were Clayton, Bob & Aaron Yeroschak. The interment took place in the Garden of Gethsemane at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Ian Forsyth, Scott Tyschinski, and Tanner, Cory, Bob and Myles Yeroschak serving as the casketbearers. Memorials were to the Health Foundation for Palliative Care Programs. Condolences can be left at baileysfuneralhome.com.
