Obituary of Carol Jeanette Ostlie

Carolyne "Carol" Jeannette Shewchuk Ostlie was born in Yorkton, SK on June 26, 1952 to parents Victoria and Peter Shewchuk. She attended school in McNutt and after graduation attained her laboratory and x-ray technician education at Saskatchewan Technical Institute in Moose Jaw, SK. Carol worked in health facilities throughout the region including Melville, Wadena, Kelvington, Canora and Yorkton. She eventually retired from her fulfilling career as a lab tech in 2019. In 1977, Carol married Gerald Ostlie and the two enjoyed a loving and successful life for over 30 years as they lived and travelled together. Throughout her 70 years of life Carol always enjoyed being outdoors. Gardening was her favourite hobby, but activities such as quadding, snowmobiling and camping were also very dear to her. She also loved to curl, dance and socialize. As an excellent cook, Carol loved hosting company and always prepared excellent meals that were not complete without her perogies and cabbage rolls. Carol's presence, nurturing nature and generous spirit will always be treasured. She leaves to honour her memory: Her sister Alvina and her sons, Adam Schick (Aimee Adams) and their daughter Aubrey; & Bradley (Nicole) Schick & children Avery & Grayson. Her brother Lionel. Brother-in-laws Mark Hampson and Ken Schick; sisters-in-law Tracy Smith and Lynda O'Sullivan; former spouse Gerald Ostlie and many friends and neighbours. Carol was pre-deceased by her grandparents, mother Victoria (1998), father Peter (2001), brother Martin (in infancy, 1948), brother Dwayne (2009) and sister Lorie (2018). God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot changed. The courage to change the things I can. And the wisdom to know the difference. The funeral service was held on Thursday, August 4th 2022 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey, BTh officiating. Music played was Till We Meet Again, Thank You, and a Ukrainian Polka was played as the recessional. The urnbearer was Adam Schick. Memorials were to the Red Cross.
