Obituary of Ann Fenuik
FENUIK - Mrs. Ann Fenuik of Yorkton entered eternal rest on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina at the age of 92 years. Ann was born on February 12, 1924 in the Rhein District, a daughter of Nick and Aksana (nee Andrychuk) Babuik. On June 10, 1943 Ann was united in marriage to John Fenuik. The couple made their home in the Gorlitz district where they farmed and raised their two children, Rodney and Janet. Ann worked tirelessly alongside with her husband in all aspects of the farm. These included raising chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and most of all pigs. In addition they milked 20 cows. Due to health reasons they retired early from the farm. Ann then turned her career to cooking for construction crews. These included C.N.R., Dept. of Highways and the Churchill Forest Industry. While living in the Gorlitz area Ann and John were faithful parishioners of St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Gorlitz and Ann was instrumental in organizing the Ukrainian Women's Association, Lesia Ukraina Branch, serving as secretary for five years. They also were members of St. Michaels Parish, south of Veregin. Following John's passing in 1976 Ann moved to Yorkton. Here she became a cook at the Ukrainian Orthodox Auditorium and became very active in her Church. She was a member of the Ukrainian Women's Association, Olena Pchilka Branch, serving on various executive positions. She cooked at the Trident Youth Camp for one summer. She assisted in the preparing and shipping of clothes for the needy in Ukraine and Brazil. In Church, Ann served as an elder sister, baked communion bread for Liturgies and also cross-stitched a set of vestments for the parish priest as well as a Church Banner. She will be remembered for the countless hours she spent preparing for activities in the Church and Auditorium. Her handi-work included crocheting and quilting and her masterpieces were shared with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and raffles at the Auditorium. Besides her parents and husband John Ann was predeceased by her daughter Janet in 1997, son Rodney in 1999, grandson Aaron in 1998; sisters Agnes Bodnaryk and Mary Tysowski and brothers Nick and Steve Babuik. She leaves to cherish her memory daughter-in-law Theresa Fenuik, grandson Trevor Fenuik, granddaughter Tessa Fenuik; great grandchildren, Kody Fenuik, Hailey Fenuik, Noah Lorence, Brianna Lorence and Alexander Lorence. A Prayer Service was held on Sunday, May 8, 2016 and the Funeral Service on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The responses were led by Yvonne & Parish Choir Members. Members of the Ukrainian Women's Association participated in a Honour Guard. The cross bearer was Tessa Fenuik and the banner bearers were Brianna Lorence and Hailey Fenuik. Serving as honourary bearer was Noah Lorence. The Interment took place in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Trevor Fenuik, Alexander Lorence, Kody Fenuik, Douglas Hull, Ernie Anuik and Chris Woloschuk serving as the casket bearers.
