Obituary of Nancy Ann Kirschman

KIRSCHMAN - Nancy Kirschman, resident of Yorkton, passed away on Friday, February 26th 2016 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 71 years of age Nancy was born on January 6, 1945 at Russell, Manitoba; the eldest daughter of five children born to Michael & Sophie (nee Shewchuk) Popiuk. She was raised on the family farm near Melville, Saskatchewan and attended the Fairland School. In 1962 she married Mervin Kirschman and moved to Yorkton. The couple later separated. Nancy was employed full time at Human Resources Canada for 18 years, and later part-time at the Yorkton Real Estate Board for another 10 years. Nancy always enjoyed visits from family, relatives and friends. Her family were most important and she cherished the time that was spent with them on special occasions, camping and doing other fun things. Nancy enjoyed many hobbies: reading, making crafts, quilting, scrap booking and playing cards. Nancy was predeceased by her father Michael in 1975; her mother Sophie in 1989; a nephew, Todd Kitch in 1970, and by her sister, Marlene Fitzmaurice in 2009. She will be greatly missed by her five children: Kelly (Samantha) Kirschman of Yorkton and their children, Schayla and Sarah; Cindy (Rick) Kozachenko of Yorkton and their children, Chantal (Ryan) Karsgaard, and Craig Kozachenko; Kim (Ted) Matychuk of Canora and their children, Jennifer, Jason, and Chad (Jesse) Matychuk; Cam (Geneva) Kirschman of Blackie, AB and their children Coleton, Mason and Haleigh Kirschman; Carmella (Jerry) Lutz of Yorkton and their children, Connor, Courtney, Kiara and Kaybrie. Nine great grandchildren: Owen, Logan, Morgan and Annabelle Matychuk; Kyron & Jayda Matychuk, Hudson Matychuk, and Addison & William Karsgaard. Also her sister, Sharon Popiuk (Murray Wrightson) of Saskatoon; and brothers, Les (Cec) Popiuk of Fort Qu'Appelle, and Gerry (Rhonda) Popiuk of Melville; numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Friday, March 4th, 2016 from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorkton with Margaret Anne & Raymond Yost officiating. Pianist, Joleen Cherland led members of the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry', 'Just As I Am', and 'You Have Come to the Lakeshore'. The interment took place in the Yorkton City Cemetery with grandchildren: Schayla, Sarah, Chantal, Jennifer, Craig and Kiara serving as the casketbearers. Family members gave a tribute to Nancy at the memorial luncheon following the funeral.
