Obituary of Otto Gerhardt Mundt

Mr. Otto Mundt of the Centennial Special Care Home in Esterhazy, formerly of Yorkton, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the age of 91 years. Otto was born July 4, 1924 and grew up in the MacNutt district, a son of Ferdinand and Caroline (nee Matzke) Mundt. As a young man Otto went to Winnipeg where he worked for several years before moving with his family to California in 1957. He worked as a painter there for many years till he retired and then decided to move back to Yorkton. Otto had many interests, he enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards, listening to music and playing his button accordion or the harmonica. He also enjoyed oil painting. Predeceased by his parents, Ferdinand and Caroline; a brother Johnnie Mundt and brother-in-law Fred Schmollinger. He is survived by Violet Mundt; son Larry (Debbie) Mundt of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter Brenda (Mike) Gann of Lee Summit, Missouri; grandchildren: James Mundt, Aubrey (Chet) Redmon and Veronica (Iain) Morrison; great grandchildren: Oliver Morrison and River Redmon. Also a sister, Hertha Schmollinger; a brother Clarence (Phyllis) Mundt, and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held in the Garden of Memories at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Crystal Bailey B.Th officiating. Otto's daughter Brenda was the urnbearer.
