Obituary of Janeth "Jenny" Stricker

STRICKER - Janeth Stricker, known to most as Jenny, was born on February 24, 1937 at Rhein, SK; a daughter of Pete and Katherine (nee Rutz). She was raised on the family farm and received her education at a country school. On April 15, 1955 she was united in marriage to Arnold Stricker. The couple farmed and raised their family in the Rhein district. In 1975 they moved to Regina, where Arnold and Jenny operated a confectionary and meat market, but also continued to commute to Rhein to farm. In April of 1986 the couple purchased a similar business in Regina Beach. Unfortunately, Arnold passed away on August 2nd of that year. After his death, Jenny continued to operate the Regina Beach Store for a couple of more years before she retired. For the past number of years she had been helping her daughter Karen in her business. In failing health for some time, Jenny passed away peacefully with family at her side on Friday, January 8th, 2016. She was 78 years of age. Besides her husband Arnold, Jenny was predeceased by a son Brian in infancy; and by all her sisters and brothers. She leaves to mourn her passing her two daughters and a son: Karen (Bill) Parker of Regina; Cary (Rosalyn) Stricker of Leader, SK; and Debbie (Len Luman) Taylor of Redcliff, AB; eleven grandchildren: Elena, Mack (Kim) Kale, Haley, Jeffrey, Jared, Janessa, Cora, Timothy, Mathew and Jennifer (Tim); nine great grandchildren: Charlie, Isaiah, Micah, Justus, Kashus, Eli, Malachi, Myles and Gabriel. A sister-in-law, Jeanette Kurtz of Rhein; and numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 13th 2016 from Christ Lutheran Church in Rhein with Rev. Karen Stepko officiating. Organist, Vange Shipowick led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'Jesus Loves Me', 'Abide With Me' and 'Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling'. Kale Parker gave the eulogy. Honorary bearers were Jeffrey Stricker, Garry Brown, Wayne Miller, Tim Wasyliw, Grant Stricker & Jack Kurtz. The interment took place in the Christ Lutheran Parish Cemetery with Timothy & Mathew Taylor, MacKenzie & Kale Parker, Jared Stricker and Isaiah Lowe serving as the casketbearers.
