Obituary of Edward Aichele

AICHELE - Edward Aichele was born on August 23, 1927 in the Otthon district of Saskatchewan; a son of Huldina (nee Kirsch) and William Aichele. As a young man Ed helped on the family farm but eventually ventured out on his own, first working as a tinsmith with Caribou Plumbing in Moose Jaw. On September 3rd 1955 he was united in marriage to Dorothy McDonald at Moose Jaw. They had two sons, Darwin & Eldon. In 1962 the family transferred to Shaunavon, where Ed started his own plumbing and heating business 'Custom Sheet Metal & Plumbing' in 1964. He operated his business until 1997, when he retired. During his many years in business, Ed was known for his forthright and honest dealings with his customers, and had become known as 'honest Ed' around the community. As a very young man, Ed was musically inclined and enjoyed singing, he and his sister-in-law sang gospel music regularly on a radio program. At age 19 he professed his faith in God, and was faithful his entire life. During his working years, golfing and bowling were favorite pastimes. Upon retirement Ed kept busy by offering to drive people to do shopping and for appointments. He enjoyed people and being around people. In January of 1997 Dorothy passed away. Later that year Ed moved back to Yorkton, and was united in marriage to Joyce Knodel in December of that year. The couple has since resided here.
