Obituary of Lloyd Albert Faure
Lloyd peacefully passed away at the Norquay Health Centre on November 11, 2015. Lloyd was born on February 2, 1922 to Felix and Margret (nee Hein) Faure in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. When Lloyd was four the family moved to the Kelliher area. On February 2, 1943, Lloyd enlisted in the Canadian Army with the South Saskatchewan Regiment. He went to Maple Creek for eight weeks of training and then on to Shilo, Manitoba for two months to take advanced driver training. In the fall of 1943 he went overseas to Scotland. In 1944 along the Seine River in France Lloyd was injured and returned home in 1946. Upon his return he worked for local farmers and school districts building rural schools. Lloyd married the love of his life Ellen Erickson, October 28, 1948 and they moved onto the land owned by Ellen's father, Olaf Erickson and made this their family farm for sixty six years, raising their three children there. He worked for Olaf Alm his first year of farming so he could put in his very first crop. Lloyd's interests included farming, crib, curling and baseball (especially the Blue Jays) as well as visiting friends and neighbors. He leaves to celebrate his life, his loving wife of 67 years Ellen, his three children; Ron (Lucille) Faure, Lois (Brian) Ilg and Ken (Lillian) Faure, grandchildren and great grandchildren Keenan (Kristin), Ryver, Abigail, Wyatt, Elena, Trace Faure, Ryan (Connie) Faure, Chad, Kaylee, Kale Cowan, Meranda (Adam) Skylar, Leahanne, Aedyn Pangracs, Shawn Faure, Trevor Faure, Janelle (Ben Pominville) Faure. Sister, Janet Hood (nee Faure), sisters-in-law, Mary Faure (nee Hetherington), Julia Wahl (nee Erickson) and Ada Faure (nee Kew); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents Felix and Margret, two brothers Enard and Irvin, brothers-in-law Joe Hood, Lester Wahl, Ole Erickson, and sister-in-law, Karen Blight. The funeral service was held on Monday, November 16th, 2015 from St. Vladimir's Church in Kelliher with Rev. Ken Buchan officiating. Organist, Esta Sweatman led the congregation in the singing of the hymns ‘How Great Thou Art' and ‘The Old Rugged Cross'. ‘Amazing Grace' by Alan Jackson was played on c.d. A tribute and special words of remembrance were offered by Keenan Faure. Honourary casket bearers were members of the Royal Canadian Legion Kelliher Branch #219 and everyone who was a part of Lloyd's life. The burial service followed in the Kelliher Lutheran Cemetery with Keenan Faure, Ryan Faure, Chad Cowan, Meranda Pangracs, Shawn Faure, Trevor Faure and Janelle Faure serving as casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Lloyd may be made to the Kelliher Curling Rink as gifts of remembrance. Service Information
