Obituary of Dean Wesley Elder

Dean Elder, beloved son of Joyce Elder of Yorkton passed away on October 16, 2015 at the age of 54 years. Friends are invited to join the family on Saturday, November 7th at 2:00pm at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre for a memorial service. Dean Wesley Elder was born on November 11, 1960 at Calgary, Alberta; the son of Joyce and Keith Elder. At age three, Dean moved with his parents to Washington state. The couple resided in the community of Edmonds, just outside of Seattle. Dean received his education there and excelled in sports such as basketball, football and baseball. As a young man he began working at his father's used car business and then went into landscaping with a friend. Dean eventually began to train and work in the construction trade with his best friend Mickey. He enjoyed that hands-on work, and would eventually learn to build a house from the basement up. He used the family home in Edmonds as a base, but worked at many different places, including time spent at construction projects in Alaska. In 1998 his father suddenly passed away, shortly after that time Dean moved to Yorkton to be closer to his mother Joyce, who had come to Yorkton in 1981 to become a property manager. Dean suffered a debilitating fall at the Regina General Hospital in 2010, Dean was unable to work after that time. He was a personable individual, who enjoyed the company of others. He was not a party person, but did have close friends. He was a great help to his mother Joyce these past years, helping the needy and was willing to help out his friends in any way he could. Dean passed away on Friday, October 16th 2015 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of 54 years. Predeceased by his father Keith in 1998, he leaves to cherish his memory and to celebrate his life, his mother Joyce of Yorkton; his brother Randy (Jeanette) and nephew John Elder of Lynnwood, Washington; his Uncle Geo (Debbie) of Regina, and their family. Cousins, Stacey, Gladys and family, Diane, Jessica and family all of Kelowna. Service Information Saturday, November 7th, 2015 2:00pm, Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre
