Obituary of Julia Sikorski

SIKORSKI - Mrs. Julia Sikorski of Ituna, beloved wife of the late Charles Sikorski passed away peacefully in her own home on Monday October 5, 2015 at Ituna, Saskatchewan. Mom was born on April 8, 1925 to parents Andrew and Mary (Kolbialko) Kaczmar. She grew up on a farm north of Ituna and attended Lunnville School. Julia wed her darling husband Charles Paul Sikorski on July 21, 1946. They farmed east of Ituna for sixteen years and moved to Ituna in 1963 when they built their home. Julia was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was very devoted to her family and her faith. She was one of great determination, perseverance and generosity. Julia had many hobbies; baking, gardening, sewing, quilting and crocheting. Being a meticulous homemaker, her home was always open to family and friends whom she treated with lunch. Julia had a beautiful singing voice. She loved listening to music and dancing. Gradually over the years, Julia's eye sight deteriorated to a degree in which she had only 10% of normal vision. Julia was predeceased by her husband Charles, her parents and her brothers Mike, Nick and John. She is survived by her son Verner (Donna) and her daughter Gail (Len Yonkman), her four grandchildren, Tricia (Cordell Dixon), Tara (Jhonatan Nunez), Nolan Yonkman and April (Nik Roy), her three great grandchildren Bryce, Paityn, and Rylan Dixon. Julia is also survived by her sisters Annie Nayko, Rosie (Bill Uchacz), and sister in law Sophie Kaczmar and many nieces and nephews and many friends. The family extends their appreciation and thanks to all community members who aided Julia in maintaining her independence until her final days. Prayers were held on Monday, October 12, 2015 at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Ituna and the Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Father Albert Schmitz as the Celebrant. Serving as the cross bearer was Nik Roy. The organist, Paulette van der Helm led members of the Parish Choir and the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "How Great Thou Art", "Lord Make Us Servants of Your Peace", "Gifts of Finest Wheat", "May Flights of Angels" and "Sing a New Song". The readers were Verner Sikorski and Gail Yonkman. The General Intercessions were led by April Roy. Honorary Casket Bearers were Tricia Dixon, Tara Sikorski Nunez, Nolan Yonkman and April Roy. The interment took place at St. Stanislaus Parish Cemetery with Allan Nayko, Richard Kaczmar, Willie Filko, Terry Berezny, Matthew Berezny and David Mandziak serving as the casket bearers. Words of remembrance were shared by Verner and Gail. Memorials honouring Julia's life may be made to the C.N.I.B.
