Obituary of Anne Tkatchuk

TKATCHUK - Mrs. Anne Tkatchuk of Yorkton, formerly of the Calder district entered eternal life on August 19, 2015 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of 94 years. Anne was born May 30, 1921 on the family farm in the Calder district, a daughter of Joe and Mary Werbowski (Sadowick). She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill in 2005; her parents Mary & Joseph; her son Dennis; a sister Josephine and four brothers Julius, Ross, Fred, Joe and Victor. Anne leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter Shirley (Doug) Flett of Vancouver, BC; two grandchildren Jason (Emily) Flett and Wayne Flett; five great grandchildren Eli, Jake, Sophie, Kenadi and Jaxon; a brother Terry (Claudia) West and two sisters-in-law Dorothy and Nettie Werbowetski; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She received her education at Liberal School in the Calder district. She helped on the family farm and also went to work for families doing housework and chores. On July 12, 1942 Anne was united in marriage to Bill Mike Tkatchuk at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Calder. Shortly thereafter Bill was called to the Army. Ann also went with him to different locations. In 1944 they came back and started farming. Anne enjoyed gardening, especially flowers in the summer. She did a lot of crocheting and quilting for family. Craftwork, cooking and baking was also some other things that Anne loved to do. She enjoyed company and never let anyone go without coffee or tea and her baked goodies. In 1980 Anne and Bill retired from farming, but continued to live on the farm. They travelled extensively to the U.S., Cuba and various points in Canada. In the summer months they would do a lot of camping. In 1995 Anne and Bill bought a home in Yorkton where they hosted many people for coffee, card playing and socializing. They truly enjoyed their retirement in Yorkton and it was here that they celebrated their 60th anniversary of marriage. Prayers were held on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 and the Funeral Service on Wednesday, August 27, 2015, both at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The responses were led by Gerald Yaholnitsky & Parish Choir Members. The cross bearer was Debbie Bieber and the banner bearers were Wanda Prokopowich and Chris Tkatchuk. The interment followed in the Garden of Gethsemane at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Jason Flett, Blair Bieber, Sveinn Eyolfson, Joe Filowich, Rodney Purich and Donald Purich serving as the casket bearers.
