Obituary of Stefka "Sophie" Kwasny

KWASNY - Mrs. Sophie Kwasny of Yorkton passed away peacefully with her family at her side on July 14, 2015. She was 82 years of age. Sophie was a strong woman who dedicated her life to her family. What do we say about a woman who gave so much of herself, loved us so deeply and tenderly, and taught us so well. Stefka ‘Sophie' Kwasny was born June 25th, 1933 to Mike and Polly (nee Dron) Antonio in the Olesha district near Preeceville, Saskatchewan. Sophie was united in marriage to Adolph Kwasny on October 26, 1952 in Rama, Saskatchewan. Sophie was very creative and had many hobbies such as knitting, crocheting and making extraordinary hand-crafted quilts she has passed down to her loved ones. She was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed and played softball in her youth. She loved watching all kinds of sports, especially the Blue Jays and had season tickets to the Yorkton Terriers for many years. Taking good care of her health was also important. Long walks were a part of her daily routine, winter and summer. Sophie was a homemaker who took great pride in being a meticulous housekeeper, she enjoyed cooking, baking, and fed us all very well. She worked at the Yorkton Hospital for 25 years where her dedication and commitment to everything she did was apparent. She was proud of her daily accomplishments, her hard work, and above all, her family. Sophie was always very loving, giving and kind. Special gifts from our mother were teaching us strong family values, the importance of being caring, giving, and being selfless. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Adolph; three children, Delores (Brian) Hilderman, Beverly Doherty, Larry (Penny) Kwasny; four grandchildren, Craig (Liddy) Hilderman, Kristin (Chris) Moser, Addam (Maja) Doherty and Ashley (Brian) Stover; two great grandchildren; Boston Hilderman and Brooklyn Moser. Sophie was predeceased by her sister Mary Gulka and her brother Ernie Antonio. Funeral Services were held on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev.
