Alvin Alexander Takatch of Willowbrook, SK beloved husband of Anne, passed away at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, June 24, 2022. Alvin was born in Fenwood, SK area August 5, 1934 and was the second oldest of six children. Alvin started his education at Nanton School in Fenwood before moving to the Willowbrook area where he continued his education. Alvin loved farming and started his farm life at an early age, helping his dad on the family mixed farm. And whether it was working as a mechanic or helping neighbours on their farms, Alvin loved what he did. That love would continue on the family mixed farm until his retirement. Another passion of Alvin’s was playing and coaching ball. That passion and dedication won the Garry League Championships in 1971. At that championship, through a mutual family friend, Lloyd Garry, he was introduced to his soon to be bride Anne and a world wind romance began. Well if truth be told they did not hit it off right off the bat, but a few dates later they did and were married in February of 1972. After a brief honeymoon in Regina they would reside on the family farm and have three children, Leah, Lona and Murray. Music was a big part of Alvin’s life and he played in various bands as lead guitar for over 35 years. He was known as one of the best lead guitar players in the area and played many weddings, anniversaries, and parties in that 35 years. His love of music would be passed on to his kids and grandkids and he even had the privilege of playing for the Queen in 1978. Winter months would involve curling and card playing with friends and neighbours. A love he would share with his family. The Takatch house could be the site of some wicked card games whether it be crib, whist, canasta or a rousing game of Willowbrook Rummy. Family was one of the most important things to Alvin. Whether it was teaching his kids to play ball or curl, having family card games and parties or just having quad rides and chats with his grandkids, family always came first. He would always love it when the house was filled with family. Over the last decade Alvin had health issues, but approached them the same way he faced life, with bravery and a never give up attitude. He was someone we all looked up to and admired and will be truly missed by everyone’s life he touched. Alvin was predeceased by his daughter Leah, parents Joseph and Clara, mother and father in law Lula and Adolph, brother Henry and nephew Shawn. Alvin leaves behind his loving wife Anne of 50 years, daughter Lona (Jim and Emily) and son Murray (Karly, Liam, Avery, Saydee, MaKena and Keeley). He also leaves behind sisters Isabel, Helen, Irene (Terry), Joyce (Les), sisters in law Iris, Frances (Bob) and Judy as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
